I'm a junior in high school, going to be a senior this upcoming year. I've been having major scheduling issues with next year's schedule, and I need an outside opinion on what I should do.
I am on an A/B schedule.
So this year I took Spanish 4 honors, Algebra 2 honors, IB History, IB English and IB Biology, as well as a few electives.
Since my IB classes are two years, I only have a certain amount of room left in my senior year schedule. For senior year I wanted to add AP Spanish and AP Studio Art (both full year and every day) and I would also take Pre-Calc (only half year every day. And if I could, also Calculus (half year, every day).
My schedule would look like this:
p.1 AP Spanish
p.2 IB History/IB English (every other day)
p.3 IB Biology
p.4 Pre-calc (1st half)- Calc. (2nd half)
p.5 AP Studio Art
Originally, my problem was that I couldn't fit the necessary gym classes I needed to graduate in next year's schedule, so I planned on taking it in summer school- therefore making me able to take the classes I wanted to.
THEN, my next problem was that my school didn't have an honors level Pre-calc class period 4 (only periods 1,3,5), meaning I would have to drop either AP Spanish or AP Art. I decided to drop AP Spanish, since I only wanted to take it to look good for college, and it would be an easy A. I didn't want to drop AP Art, because I had gone through all of these things just to get in: took Dual Enrollment course at MassArt, interview process, portfolio, etc. and because the Art department is making an extraordinary exception for me.
I also wouldn't have to take summer school for gym once I would drop AP spanish.
However, when my guidance counselor tried to fit Spanish 5 honors instead of AP Spanish into my schedule, it was the same period and amount of time as AP Spanish, which didn't make a difference.

Basically, now I don't even know if I am able to take spanish at all. I don't know what else my guidance counselor can do. I want to take as many challenging classes as possible senior year, since I want to get into a good college/university. I don't know how not taking a language at all would look.
(by the way, I'm not sure what I want to major in- interests in science/history/art)

Any ideas of what I can do?? Somehow, I need a way to be able to take pre-calculus and AP Spanish, or at least Spanish 5 honors.
