scheduling problem

well this week we started registration for senior year of high school. however i have a dilemma and would appreciate some help.

classes for senior year
AP Calculus
AP Physics
AP Literature
AP Govt/Econ
Woods I (needed to graduate)

now i have the option of choosing one more class up until now i have taken spanish I-III and received all A's however i find Spanish rather boring and dislike the class, so i have thought of instead taking AP Physcology which is a class i am interested in and would enjoy taking the problem is there is no way for me too take both classes

so my question is will not taking a fourth year of spanish hurt my chances of admission at top universities

here is a little background info
14/702 class rank
probably will be a recruited athlete for baseball
ACT 32
SAT 2100

sorry for the length thanks for taking the time to help

Skipping a 4th year of language to take another academic class (like Psych) will not hurt you. Most schools want a minimum of 2 years, preferably 3 years, of the same language. I'd only advocate a 4th year if you wanted to take AP and get credit, or if you plan to test out of the entry level language class in college. If psych interests you more than Spanish, then take psych.

You may want to look at requirements at schools, though. Many of them have foreign language requirements that you can get out of through decent scores on an AP test. If you want to just get it over with, you can take AP Spanish and not have to worry about language.

Of course this isn't true everywhere and there is a benefit to taking a class that you like. Only you can decide if it is worthwhile.

i had EXACTLY the same debate as you last year.. and i mean exactly. i ended up taking psych and ap psych (both are a one term class at my school, but we have block scheduling). i checked out all of my colleges (a few ivies that i won't get into, pomona, umich, etc) and all seemed to not require a fourth year. best decision of my life! what are you thinking of majoring in in college? that should be a factor in your decision as well (which will be more useful to you: psych or spanish)

EXACTLY the same situation!

I actually chose AP Psych over continuing Spanish. I was a very good student but I had no accent what so ever..and I'm in love with French. So, this year I'm taking Psych and I'm so happy I am. I would recommend taking Psych over Spanish. You probably will have to take language in college and unless you're planning to take Spanish in college, there's no point. (I'm taking French in college!)

at this point in time i really dont have any idea about what i want to major in that is part of the reason why i am struggling with the decision i suppose. but anyways i think i will take physch i really wish to take a class i will enjoy

go for it-you will be so much happier! a friend of mine took spanish 4 and ap spanish this year and absolutely hates it, where as i look forward to going to psych every day. have fun next year!!

For me it was either AP United States History [My Passion] last year or Mediocore College-prepatory level German 3. I, obviously, followed my passion and chose the better course, which also proved more rigorous and fun [APUSH, obvious]
