Scheduling Problem

Although Im pretty positive of the classes im taking for next year, im left with one more space to fill in my schedule and 2 classes that i really want to take.

the 2 classes are spanish 4 or DECA

the pros of taking spanish 4 is that i will be tied for valedictorian if i get strait A's and that i will have spanish under my belt for college and can go into AP Spanish. the problem is though, that if i take spanish i can't take DECA.

the pros of taking DECA are that i will obviously be in DECA which is an extracurricular, and im interested in business. however, the major downside is that it is a regular class, not honors or AP so i will go way lower in the rankings and it kills to see your ranking go way down when u have a chance at being valedictorian.

anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

bumppppp......

Flip a coin. If you're unhappy with the results, you'll know which one you want to take. :P

How important is being valedictorian in your opinion?

do whichever one you think will be more enjoyable

it doesn't matter how successful you are if it's at something you don't like

atrop, being valedictorian is really important to me seeing as its within little reach. on the other hand though, being in DECA is also really important to me. ugh any suggestions?

pretty much its : valedctorian vs being in DECA

Well, do you plan to continue your studies in Spanish in college/uni?

I was faced with a very similar dilemma for my senior year scheduling too. For me, the choice was between AP Spanish or a regular engineering projects class. I'm choosing the engineering projects class because it's much more interesting than Spanish to me.

Go with the class you're more passionate about, which I'm guessing is DECA.

go with DECA because val is garbage.

Being val isn't worth much of anything (or so I tell myself ;) ) You get to give a speech, and you get to flaunt it, but in college consideration being val doesn't really give you a leg up compared to being 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, whatever.

The spanish thing itself will look good on applications though, and according to most people you will find it very 'useful'.

Personally, if I were choosing between a class that I didn't like that would look good on apps and for my rank, and a fun class that I loved, I'd definitely go with the latter.
