My school decided that they didn't need AP European History, AP United States History, AP Economics or AP Government this year. Apparently there wasn't enough demand for those courses. Also, AP Psych, AP French and AP Spanish are all during the same period and only offered once a day. They wiped out my entire schedule.

The kids who didn't want to take AP in any of those subjects have filled up the regular classes so there's nothing for the AP students to do except take all of these on apex or take pottery (which is soon filling up).

Why the heck do these people get payed if they can't figure out to distribute AP's evenly throughout the day.

End Rant.

I guess I'll be taking AP Psych and AP Spanish online, too bad for AP Euro though : (. Thank god for AP Lang, AP Chem and AP French!

The top 5 percent of upperclassman are going to be taking pottery. That's hilarious hahhaa

next time (if you still have more years in high school) you should get a group of people to sign up for the courses you want so they don't get cancelled. At our school, if there is at least one classful (about 15-20 kids) who want to take a course, they have to provide it. For example, AP Art History keeps getting cancelled because no one takes it. But I really want to take it, so I've ganged up a preliminary 10 of my friends to take it, and I'm sure there will be a few random stragglers (for god's sake, our school has over 3000 kids!) who will sign up. Voila! Class guaranteed! :)

Wow... that's really stupid. In my school, the department heads all meet and create a giant grid on a white board. They make sure that things like THAT (<---I'm referencing your anecdote) don't happen.

Holy. Crap. That is perhaps the most astounding example of administrative incompetence I've read in quite some time. It sounds like most of your school officials should be living in cardboard boxes and drinking out of paper bags.

On a more constructive note, have you considered taking your AP courses online? I think University of Nebraska Online High School has a nice selection, among others.

My small school is like this. Even the regular, non AP core classes are only offered once or twice a day, so it's really hard to schedule electives. Last year I had 2 study halls in 8 periods. I signed up for more than enough classes, but they just didn't fit in. Just be lucky you have APs. Not everyone gets that opportunity.

"I guess my school doesn't want me to excel."

That's the message I get from my school. I might use it to guilt them, since asking doesn't seem to work. They offer different periods of AP and honor classes, but they don't seem to want to give them out.
