Hi! I am looking at my schedule for senior year, and I'm planning on taking AP Statistics instead of AP Calculus AB or BC. I know AP Calc is harder and colleges like it better, but I'm actually interested in Stats, as it would help more than Calc for my future career choice. Does taking AP Calc mean that much, or is it okay that I'm going to take AP Stats?

well, it depends what, because calc is a requirement for a lot of fields. If you can handle it(Assuming this is senior year schedule) I would do it. If you struggle with calc then You could wait until college.

I would be majoring in child development and eventually going into psychology, so I don’t think Calculus is as crucial. Thanks for your insight!

you will take calculus in college though, but stats is fine

I’m pretty sure colleges really prefer calc. On the other hand, stats is still an AP and still impressive, and it might be worth being at a slight disadvantage to be in a class that’s more relevant to your interests and that you’re likely to do better in because of that interest. So yeah it might hurt you but it might be worth it. I dropped science my senior year and it might hurt me in the admissions process (though I’ve already gotten into a school that I love, yay!) but I’m so much happier this year taking classes that I like, so for me it was completely worth it.
