Scheduling Time for College Apps?

I’m a little confused about how much time to put into filling out college apps. I’m applying to four schools early action and ten schools regular admission and I was wondering: should I take time out of my extracurricular activities on a daily basis to fill them out, or just spend a lot of time on them during the weekends?

I am in the same situation. I haven’t started though. I am doing 5 early action and about 7 UCs and about 2 regular decision. You shouldn’t worry too much about the application itself, rather worry about your essay and your scores for standardized tests. If you are set for them, I recommend you take time on the weekends than disturbing your extra - curriculars.

It really depends on what the colleges you’re applying to require. As far as the common app goes, most of those questions are pretty cut and dry and shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours. But you also have to write the common app essay. How long that will take probably depends on you, but I would recommend several edits and revisions!

And then after that many colleges will have their own individual questions (these are usually pretty simple, like what do you want to major in, what clubs would you be interested in, how did you hear about our school). Then a lot of schools will have supplements. A lot of supplements are 250 words or under, but there are definitely some in the 500-650 range.

As you can see, essays are really important! If you are applying to 14 schools, you will probably have to write quite a few essays. I don’t know exactly how long you’ll need for that, but make sure that you are organized and set aside as much time as you need to write and edit these essays. You do not want to be writing them at the last minute!! Good luck!
