Has anyone been notified yet about being invited for the scholarship interviews?

Feb 1st as per website. Letters are on the way.

My D has applied for Semmes Distinguised sceince scholar award.

Well, you guys are the heavy hitters…

I was just notified of acceptance, with a $5000/yr scholarship. Look, I’m thrilled to be admitted but this is going to be hard-doable without loans but hard on my parents.

Should I go for it? i just found out this week.

Thanks, maybe I’ll see you there!

Does anyone know what the two day visit for scholar awards entails?
Sounds like it’s only about 24 hours on campus - any Trinity students here who have been through the interviews?

Anyone else here going?

puma12

The full tuition awards only began last year, and are really limited in number, so I don’t imagine you’ll get lucky here, sorry.

Thanks for the response, gloworm. Do you remember me? You really helped convince my S that Trinity would be a good place to apply. He is so excited about getting to go visit!
Thank you again!

Some colleges invite lots of applicants to interview for the big award, and give the runners-up a smaller award.

Last year a girl at son’s high school was one of 60 invited to interview at Villanova, and was one of 10 chosen for full ride. St. Olaf invites 150 or so to interview, and gives all of them one of 3 levels of merit awards.

The question is whether Trinity invites these accepted students and gives all of them various levels of awards, or if they have already sifted down to the few that they will definitely offer the merit awards to (if the interview goes well) Before the invitations were sent.

For 2010-2011: 13 were asked to fly out as finalists and 5 were selected; 3 for science and 2 for non-science. (article in Jan 2011 magazine)
