Scholars Day - this weekend

Is anyone planning on attending this on Saturday? If so, have you received information on the itinerary for the day?

Just an fyi – everything’s blooming in SC – don’t forget allergy meds if susceptible. Have fun – campus is glorious this time of year!

My son is attending…

If you click on the Scholars Day link ([Admissions | University of South Carolina](http://www.admissions.sc.edu/scholarsday) ), you will see a Scholars Day Agenda pdf file. It’s very informative. Looks like a busy day!

Saturday forecast at this moment is high of 72. Hope everyone enjoys the event.

Soooo mad we can’t make this. My D leaves for Sr. trip that night. Looks like a nice day!

Thanks for the helpful link and allergy med reminder.

Thank you so much for that link!!! I wonder if the students will receive that whole agenda as a booklet when they get there - I would think so - but maybe we should print it just in case.

I assume everyone coming already has a place to stay. Columbia is actually close enough to Augusta to end up with a number of rooms taken by people attending the Masters.

Hi coleman4…I know you said that your son is in the Nursing program and I was wondering if you would mind posting anything you learn this weekend about the program. I think we had already talked about how it wasn’t open when we toured last summer and my D and I are getting most of our info through phone calls and their website. We are so bummed not to be able to visit on Saturday…so if you find out anything interesting please let us know.I think these open houses are so helpful and you often find out a lot more information. I hope you don’t mind me asking you to post your thoughts! Thanks so much…if its a total pain…that’s no problem too!Enjoy your time there!

NJMOM3 - they’re doing the whole thing again next Saturday. Main difference is this is the “Admitted Students” day versus Scholars Day, so no Honors & Capstone stuff, but you should be able to get the Nursing and other info on that day. Don’t know if it’s too late to sign up but worth a call…

//. Thank you! I will look into that. I’m not sure about my D’s schedule next week either. This month is crazy! I should have tried to do something in the fall! Thanks for the info!

NJMOM3 - My son is going with my husband so I’ll have to rely on them to collect the information. He is attending the Nursing session so I’ll let you know anything that he brings home from that.

//\ Thanks so much!!! And I totally understand if they don’t end up sharing a ton of information with you…it’s pulling teeth trying to get anything out of my husband or son!!

I’m sorry for asking, but can someone please inform me what Scholar’s Day really is? I just received the letter in the mail saying how I am named a University of South Carolina scholarship award winner. The thing is is that I haven’t applied to Capstone, the Honors College, or for any scholarships at all. I’m not even sure which scholarship I was even awarded with! Please fill me in.

Thanks.

Your letter should tell you what scholarship you have received. You don’t have to apply for anything other than honors program, which is also app for Carolina/McNair. Other scholarships are based on your test scores and GPA. If letter is not clear, call tomorrow. I thought all scholarship went out in March, but maybe something departmental? Or is it a financial aid award. Scholars Day is an admitted students day for anyone receiving a merit scholarship.

Or could it possibly be info on state lottery scholarships if you’re in-state.

My husband and son will be attending Scholar’s Day this Saturday! It’s killing me to not be there and to rely on them for information! We’re from CA and my son will be a Biomedical Engineering major and Capstone Scholar. For those moms attending, help fill in the gaps our men forget to mention, please!

/\ /\ I’m relying on others for information too!! My daughter can’t even be there. It would have been a great time for her to meet the Capstone members too!

^^If hasn’t already, be sure she joins the Capstone facebook group. Good place to ask who else is in your major and to share some info. D2 also found suitemates through FB.

Thanks SCmom12! I will check with her on that…I know she 's been on facebook, but i don’t know if she’s been on with the Capstone group or not.I will pass that on to her! Thank you!
