does anyone else know what it is?

at the bottom of the email invitation, it says "P.S: if you can't come to scholar's day, please come to admit weekend." does this mean we have been accepted already?

in early february??

in early february??

Yes. Just the same as everyone who got Regents Scholar packets from Berkeley are informally "admitted" too.

Scholars day is a chance for you to see the campus, hear some speakers, eat a nice lunch and basically be recruited to attend UCSD.

My brother went to UCSD scholars day a few years ago and they announced to the students who were there that they were admitted.

ah, thanks for the reply...

uh, so if you've got the regents scholar packets from berkeley, you can consider yourself admitted?

It seems like common sense. Why interview someone for the schools highest honor and scholarship, if their admission is in doubt.

true. thanks a lot then--that certainly made my day ;)

I'm sorry to 'barge' into your thread, but I was curious what statistics are required to become a UCSD Scholar?

I'm currently a junior and UCSD is one of my top choices. Thanks in advance. :)

oh, hi there :)
you're not barging in at all--welcome!

ummm...i can only speak for myself. my stats were:
sat 1: 800v, 800m
sat 2: 800 math 2C, 800 writing, 790 physics
gpa: 4.3

was this the information you were looking for?

Yes it is, and I might add that those are very, very impressive stats.

Thanks for the help and good luck with your college search! :)

no problem--feel free to private message me any time!!

those are killer scores, someone.

Where else did you apply?

stanford, princeton, harvard, yale, mit, pomona, ucb, ucla

Should have asked before, what is your intended major?

BTW, my brother is a Junior at Stanford for Physics and EE.

if we don't go, will it affect admission in any way?? cuz im in so cal, and sd is kinda far...for me at least haha

oh cool!

er...i don't think it'll affect admission--at the bottom of the email invite is something to the effect of, "if you can't come to scholar's day, at least come to admit weekend"

you could call to check, though

btw, joemama: congrats on the prez scholar nomination. did you apply?

someone: yes, submitted preschlr app but have little chance cause my ECs are just medium.
What is your intended major?

syawn: My brother went to it a few years ago. Said it was fun. I'm a little over 1 hour from SD, so I'll go if nothing important is going on at school.

sorry, joemama. symbolic systems @ stanford really interests me.

Ah, a theorist. Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, MIT seem like good choices. Hope you have the opportunity to choose between them all.

haha, thank you. what about you? possible major? college application plan? let me know

Frankly, I'm more confused about "Major" than I let on. I'm going to give engineering a shot--BioE (hence UCSD) or ME. I know it will be tough. My dad thinks I'm a born MANAGER so I will be "encouraged" to go for an MBA if I survive the UG Engineering propgram. I applied to a few Ivy League(but not Princeton), Duke, Stanford, Berkeley and UCSD. I had 1600 SAT, high 700s on SAT2s.

nice lunch? that's some incentive
