scholars housing

does anyone know if its a really bad idea to NOT live in the scholars housing at cambridge if you particpiate in the program? Im not sure if i will exactly "fit" in with people in scholars housing because i dont exactly have a "scholar" atitude or personality, im just kinda smart lol....comments from anyone who has opinions on this would really help

from what I've heard, the scholars kids aren't really dorky and actually very fun. I got into honors and I am in the same boat as you but I think that scholars are very fun and that staying in scholars housing will in no way take away from your college experience

alright, thanks a lot...thanks for "catching my drift" too lol, i didnt wanna offend anyone...i think im gonna do housing with them then

haha, no worries pj.... every time i've visited friends in scholars dorms it's always very upbeat and fun-- doors open, people playing the guitar, video games, hanging out, eating sushi, etc. etc. you'll be fine :)

OK, can anybody tell me a little more about the CP Scholars program? My S got an invite, and we really hadn't heard much about it before that.

I've tried looking into it on the UMD web site, but can't get a feel for what it really is. His proposed major is EE, so I'm guessing the invite is to the STS program.

i just wanted to bring this one back to life to see if anyone else has opinions on it. im just curious if they have the usual college party scene and things like that. do u think it would be hurtful if i DID decide not to be housed with the scholars?

The scholars dorms dont have AC... which is kind of a pain...

around a week ago, somebody from the scholars program called my house to tell me congratulations and blah blah blah for being accepted into UMD. i too asked him if it was required to live in scholars housing. he said you don't, but the scholars program is a "live-learn" experience, so it would be good to leave with other scholars. i don't know, for me i'm trying to get into the arts program. it would be cool to have a floor of a bunch of musicians, artists, whatever such as myself.

I don't believe that scholars is that hard to get into so i don't think you should worry about not having a "scholar" attitude and being forced to room with a bunch of nerds.

D lived in the "Scholars" dorm last year. There were plenty of kids on her floor and dorm who were not in the scholars program. It's a pretty typical freshman dorm
