I just wanted to find out more about the scholars program waitlist. I was accepted in to Public leadership scholars and I want to do Media, self and society. How many people are on the UMD scholars waitlist? and how many people do they take off every year? Also is there a deadline for submitting the waitlist application? thanks.

anyone? please help?!?!!??!

May someone please please please help me with this question?!?!?!??1 Thank you!! : )

Were you invited into scholars? If you weren’t it is doubtful that you will get into it. Scholars is a 2 yr citation, not 4 like Gemstone or Honors.

Scholars students are told on day one, there is always a waiting list, so if you drop out, you are out. For our DS and his friends nobody ever dropped out of their program.

I am a little confused, I thought the actual program (concentration) does not get determined until after March.

Has it changed that much, that now upon acceptance to UMDCP you are selected for the Scholars concentration?

I.E. our DS was accepted to Govt and Politics for UMDCP with Scholars, his Scholars is International Relations, which was selected by him when they sent the paperwork for the program…not the mass email…Congrats at this time we would like to offer you admittance to UMDCP Scholars for Govt and Politics.

He was than sent a form and asked to select/rank his top 3 picks in the Scholars program.

that was my DS experience just last year. First admitted to the University, your college (Engineering in his case) and Scholars. Then you are sent Scholars information at a later date with the opportunity to choose your Scholars program.

And there was a student who dropped Scholars after not getting into his program of choice last year. He stayed in Cambridge for the first semester and then had to move out.

Thanks for your responses. So what does this mean for the waitlist? Would I be pulled in to the program mid-semester or would I be notified before I choose what college I will be attending.

Right now there shouldn’t be a waitlist since they have yet to decide who gets into which program. They will notify you when they complete the process of determining who gets what.

Our DS is in one of the highest demanded Scholars program, and he got in.
