Scholars question...

Do participants in the Scholars Program get early access for class registration? Thanks.

No. After the initial registration this summer (you register for the fall when you are on campus for Orientation), unless you are in engineering, your registration date is based on credit hours (the more you have, the earlier you register)…this is when all those AP credits come in handy. Both D’s were able to register much earlier than friends who didn’t come in with nearly as many AP credits. I say “except engineering”, because I thought I’d heard that Engineering registration dates work differently, but I don’t know…can someone clarify that? You’ll def get the classes you need for your Scholars program, though…as they make sure everyone gets into the colloquiums.

Plus, as an incoming freshman, scholars orientation is not done with general admit. As Astro stated don’t worry as an incoming freshman you will get your classes needed.

I wonder, do students get notification in may of their roommate, then meet them at scholars orientation? I guess, not necessarily, as there are 3 orientation sessions to choose from. So perhaps you’d try to communicate w your roommate in may so that you can be attending the same session?

No, sorry. You won’t be notified of who your roommate is until August when ResLife notifies all the incoming freshmen.

Are the Scholars kept together in the same housing complex sophomore year? I thought it was good to keep them together in Cambridge as freshman

You can choose to stay in Cambridge for your sophomore year, although I don’t know what % actually do.

Wow, so I’m thinking maybe if my daughter met a potential roommate at accepted students day 4/8 that there would be time to make mutual roommate requests…small chance of happening anyway, I guess.

That is correct kbi…I don’t know what the cut-off date is for requesting a roommate, but obviously the sooner the better. 4/8 should be fine, although it’s usually easier to identify those that one would NOT want as roommates!
