So at what point should we assume that DD did not make the invitation list for scholar's weekend? We've been hoping that she might be invited, but if it's happening in March, I thought she'd hear by now. Substantial merit scholarship money is likely the only way she'll be able to come to UDel. Still hopeful that maybe they haven't sent notices yet since there's been no related posts here. Keep crossing fingers, toes, etc.

Distinguished Scholars weekend is earlier this year(March 10th). Unfortunately, that means that they have most likely sent out the letters. Remember, if it is very difficult to get an invitation to the weekend. A little over 100 prospective students receive one. However, I hope your daughter receives a letter and is able to come to the University of Delaware.

Yea, we're kind of disappointed. She has excellent stats - NMF, 1600 SAT (old) and 2390 (new). Lots of music EC's and 5 on AP's - perhaps being out of state played a part in the selection (or non-selection). Well, she may still get some substantial merit money, but for her to NOT go to our state university is unlikely at this point. I had hoped she would have some other options. There were several schools that offered close to full rides for NMF, but none that appealed to her. We'll still go down in March for her to attend some classes and get a good feel for the campus. She still named UDel is her first choice for NMF.

I don't think being out of state matter when it comes to who gets selected. From what I remember, most of the kids were from out of state. What kind of ECs was she involved in? I noticed that that the people they invited didn't always have the greatest SATs or AP scores. For instance, I only had a 1380 on the SAT. However, with stats like those, I am surprised she didn't get an invitation.

Are you a Dupont scholar, jammin? Do you think she should call and ask about consideration or would that compromise her chances at any other awards? One of the reasons that she likes Delaware is that it has everything she's looking for - classical guitar, engineering, excellent choirs.

Great news! Daughter received invitation to scholars weekend today! Anyone else get an email invite? Love to know where you're from, what is attracting you to UDel,etc. Also, any current UDel students that have been through the weekend - any words of wisdom?

Congratulations! Maybe I will see her at the weekend.

The University of Delaware is an AMAZING institution that is quickly on the rise. The Scholar's Weekend is a very exciting time for students and I wish your daughter the best of luck.
