I’m an out of state student who is in love with CofC. I am really interested in going there and plan on touring this year however I am wondering what my chances are at a scholarship, because without one I’ll doubt my parents will be able to swing it for me to attend. So here are my stats : Female, Caucasian, 28 ACT, 3.7 gpa. Extracurriculars: cross country, relay for life club, and volunteered at nursing home. Also possibly joining FCCLA next year. Can anyone tell me what my chances are at receiving a scholarship? Also how do you like CofC? Any info is very much appreciated!!
If you want to be competitive , I’d retake the ACT to improve your score if possible . You may also want to look into departmental scholarships to offset expenses .
I agree. Please look at departmental and alumni scholarships!
@southernbelle7 What is your potential major? My son is a freshman who attends the Honors College as a William Aiken Fellow. He loves it. Charleston is an amazing city full of history and art. There is always something to do. He is a CS and Data Science major. The internship and research opportunities available there is one of the main reasons that he chose the school. Charleston has a strong, growing tech community . CofC also has strong relationships with the Medical University of SC ( only several miles from the school) . Students can participate in research as an undergrad and also gain necessary volunteer hours for applications for health programs. I can’t say enough good things about the school. It is a liberal arts focused school. It is also an urban school that flows into Charleston. It’s a great option for students looking for an urban option. For students looking for a self contained, traditional option , CofC is not the best choice. Feel free to PM with any specific questions.
