cross-posted to decision thread

D20 received a merit offer today. National Buckeye, $13,500/year. She was accepted in the 1st round in Nov. OOS/1470 SAT/ 3.9 gpa/school doesn’t rank but likely top 15%. No mention of Trustees, Provost or Maximus. But it’s better than her sister was offered last year.

Also, be aware that tOSU does not guarantee to meet need, so it doesn’t matter what your EFC is. Especially for OOS.

@momzilla2D - congrats on national buckeye - really makes OSU good option

My financial aid. are today via buckeye mail around 4:00, about the same time i paid my acceptance fee (although it was probably a coincidence) I was accepted on January 31st

came today*

Ok in one of my twins account received National Buckeye and Scarlet and Gray- he was accepted in the first batch in Nov - never received letter (but that’s probably on our mailman) his stats (per OSU they told us his GPA conversion 3.84 UW and 31, 35 ACT (submitted app with 31 then sent 35 around 11/1)
Other child hasn’t checked their account yet.

Yep received yesterday

Would be interesting to know how many National Buckeyes are given, and what the real criteria is, as there seems to be a lot of inconsistencies with respect to allocation etc.

For those who received National Buckeye, did you receive in snail mail or online?

Snail mail

In Buckeye account - although have called and they stated that they mailed a letter on 2/28 (they emailed copy) - so thinking it’s time to speak with our post office (we have been missing acceptance letters- thankful for online acceptances). The email and Buckeye account were very similar in dates. My son applied EA (Arts and Sciences)- accepted in the first wave in Nov - didn’t get Buckeye until February- other students with lower grades/test scores in our HS received earlier (they applied to Engineering).

DD received National Buckeye today $13,500!
Applied EA

Top 10%
Engineering major
She also received an AF rotc scholarship so this is really good news!
Still considering between Ohio, Clemson and Virginia Tech

I was wondering the same thing regarding the Special Scholarships and Alumni Scholarships. Does anyone know when they will come out with the awards, or have some of you already received them???

Special scholarships come from a variety of OSU academic departments and special offices, such as the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. My daughter received a freshman engineering scholarship from Ford last year after filling out a Special Scholarhip Application. She was informed of the award on September 12, several weeks after classes had started. However, the university had already applied the first semester portion of the scholarship to the autumn billling statement (without informing the student or setting it forth on the autumn online billing statement). A contact in the engineering school told me that departmental scholarships are usually decided and determined in late spring but not announced until the following autumn semester.

My daughter received a nice swag box, including a mug, a deck of cards and other goodies from the English department yesterday and acceptance into the Honors college tonight
but still no scholarship offer. We thought she’d qualify for one because she received generous packages from higher ranked schools, and was named a Presidential Scholars Finalist at FSU, which is similarly ranked. But, so far, nothing. She was told by a person answering the phone in admissions a couple of weeks ago, that she wouldn’t be receiving one. It just goes to show that nothing is certain in the admissions/scholarship game.

Also, the emails she sent to her admissions counselor went unanswered. She thought this may have played a role in not getting a scholarship offer, but I gently reminded her that she can’t and won’t win them all. And that, odds are the powers that be thought others were a better fit, so they offered them a scholarship instead of her. So, it goes in life. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t. The most important thing is staying focused, while enjoying life, which she is definitely doing as she closes out her senior year. Congrats to all who have been awarded scholarships! tOSU seems like a great school.

@somemomma I just read your comment from only a week ago, and was struck by the second to last line. It’s amazing how much has changed in a week

Congratulations! We are sill waiting here - Would you be able to tell me what kind of envelope in came in? Was it posted from undergraduate admissions? regular envelope that says buckeye bound? I see something in the mail today and hope we find out!

Does anyone know how many Provost awards are given each year? Just curious.
Also, is there any past indication caught as to the likely hood of getting into honors if you have one of these scholarships? Thanks!

My OOS DD25 received the Buckeye and Provost today. GPA 3.99 UW 4.35 W, 1510 SAT, 34 ACT. We don’t do rankings but she is in the top 5% for sure
This is a huge relief as she couldn’t go without it – and she loves it! Good luck to all - this is so stressful!
