Scholarship Appeals

How often does a college accept a scholarship appeal? I've heard of a few cases, but not positive on the how the majority of cases end up.

My college is a private school, not sure if that makes a difference.

Insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

If this particular school is your #1 choice and you can demonstrate that or if you have competitive offers from similar or competing colleges, depending on how big of a scholarship you’re talking about, those things can sometimes cause reconsideration. I wouldn’t bank on it though.

I think typically that there may be some negotiation possible on financial aid (need based), but not the awarding of specific scholarships (merit).

It certainly cannot hurt to ask, however… has your situation changed, some thing that they missed or didn’t take into consideration or do you just want more money?

Are you asking about “need based” or “merit based” aid?

Do you have a better offer from a “peer school”?

Do you have a serious reason for the reconsideration?
