Scholarship applicants

Does anybody know when we'll start hearing from admissions?

Nope!

But I applied by the scholarship deadline too and am hoping for some $$$. :D

Me toooo. has you application status changed at all from “preliminary review”?

I think we start hearing back from admissions in late January if we have been chosen to interview for the Presidential or Trustee scholarship.

Looking at past year threads looks like about Jan 25 or so

Also, does anyone know if there is more than one date/session to choose from for the explore usc program that trustee/presidential candidates must attend?

Owl,
The Explore USC sessions are for two days. During that time the interview will take place.
The sessions are from late February through early March. There will be a choice of dates.
Keep in mind for the Trustee Scholarship the amount awarded is about $160,000 over a four year period.

Students stay in the dorms. There will be tours, academic information and social events. Comments from students have been positive. Use the search function to find posts from attendees last year.

Thank you Georgia Girl!

What if we’re not chosen? Do we still start to hear around then, or do they wait until April to release everyone who’s not getting a scholarship?

does anyone know if those who are accepted in the first wave (late jan/early feb) are required to send in a midyear report? i would think that since you’ve already been accepted, you won’t need to send anything in? or perhaps they would request it when they’re deciding whether to grant you the scholarship or not?
and the same question for the other waves? do you only send in a midyear report if they ask you to (whether for borderline applicants or dean’s scholarship hopefuls)? how likely is it that they would ask?
i’m just worried because i think i’m a top tier applicant (UW 3.8, W 4.75, sat 2310), but i’ll probably end up with a 3.3-6 gpa this semester, probably destroying any chance i may have had at getting in. thanks for any response!

I think you should still send in a midyear report, just to be safe. If you can get it up to a 3.6, I don’t think it’s gonna hurt you that much given the rest of your app looks good. Especially if you’re a “top tier applicant” they’re not gonna rescind you over a B. It’ll look worse if you don’t send anything in IMO, because then it looks like you have something to hide. Good luck man (or girl, sorry I can’t tell by your SN haha)!

@hearing11: Most of the applicants who receive decisions in late Jan/early Feb are being considered for scholarship, although from previous threads, there have been a few exceptions. If you are not a scholarship candidate, there is a good chance you might still hear from them before April because USC sends out acceptances in waves.

smiley, at least going from last year (from what I remember), the applicants who were accepted in Jan/Feb and asked to interview for scholarships were NOT asked for midyear grades.

If I were you, I wouldn’t send unless asked to. Although I don’t think a senior year dip that small would make much difference. Good luck!

@jazz/shreddermom
thank you so much! it’s just that i may get one or two Cs (my first) this semester (but i am taking 6 APs this year).
anyone know about about the rest of the waves? what percent of people get mid year report requests?

I believe the application instructions say send in mid-term grades IF requested.
