Just saw this posted on the UA Undergraduate Scholarship page:

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, prospective freshman students for Summer 2010 or Fall 2010 who completed an online admission application on November 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, or 30 will have until Friday, December 4 to submit a scholarship application. If you are applying as a transfer student for Fall 2010, the deadline for scholarships is March 1.

They said that they would extend the deadline, but they’re cutting it close with the Friday cut off. That means that those who apply today have to receive their email and get their scholarship app in by Friday.

I wonder what they’ll do about those who apply to the school tomorrow - the deadline? Are those people out-of-luck?

^ I hate to see someone miss out on what merit they may deserve, on the other hand having the motivation/organization to apply earlier rather than waiting to the verylastminute for something like this may be a skill they are seeking for their merit award winners. just a thought…

Regarding getting that myBama email confirmation, my daughter applied the Saturday after Thanksgiving 11/28 and received her email this morning, 12/1.

My dd applied for a non honors scholarship and thought she could submit it online. Good thing I made her look because the essay had to be snail mailed. Took it directly to the PO yesterday to make sure the envelope was postmarked November 30th!

Peg - what non honors scholarships are you referring to?

Mom - Her transcripts were already sent from her school - I think before Thanksgiving and I requested the college board scores to be sent prior to Thanksgiving as well. So hopefully everything is in order. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to check with the folks online.
