Hi ! I am planning to apply to IVY league schools for Under graduation in 2018 school year. I have got SAT 1565/1600 and GPA of 3.75/4.0 , what are my chances to get good scholarship at those IVY league schools?
None of the Ivies give scholarships based on academic merit, i.e. GPA and test scores. “Scholarships” (grant aid) from Ivies is based on financial need ONLY*.
*with a possible exception for recruited athletes, but idk much about that, and either way it is irrelevant to your question of whether or not you can get scholarships by stats.
^ Ivies don’t give non-need scholarships of any kind.
Your stats won’t matter at all in terms of financial aid at any of the Ivies. Their aid is all need based aid.
Does your family have financial need?
@CourtneyThurston the Ivies do not give athletic scholarships…at all.
My parents do have enough income which won’t qualify them for financial aid. But at the same time they don’t have too much savings for Ivies level fees.So trying to help them out , How can I reduce their financial burden.
Find a school that has a chance for amazing merit for your stats. It isn’t an Ivy.
My kids chased merit. They are going for engineering so as long as their school is ABET accredited and there are internships- they’ll be fine.
Find schools that offer merit scholarships or apply to some outside scholarships. It sounds like you are international and that makes getting merit scholarships more difficult. My suggestion is to find a school you can afford.
You do like all of the other kids in the country who have fantastic stats but whose parents make too much money to get significant need based aid to those schools…you move on and find an affordable school where you can be happy and get a good education.
Oh okay, wasn’t sure. Maybe I was thinking of Stanford then? I recall SOMEONE at the top giving non-need based athletic scholarships.
Zero.
@CourtneyThurston: Stanford, Northwestern, Duke, Rice, ND, and Vandy are DivI and offer athletic scholarships. Georgetown does in some sports as well.
Gotcha
Stanford does. Ivies do not.
Also look at Wash U and U Chicago. Large research schools where many kids with high stats and parents who are comfortable, but not comfortable enough to pay full freight at an IVY, look for merit aid.

Well you better rule out Stanford as they have some non ABET accredited engineering programs.
Ivies don’t give out merit, however most of the other top schools do give out merit aid but it will be extremely competitive. Better to try for a quality school in the field you want to study.
@tdy123: Merit money from UChicago now would be very hard to get (same goes for Duke and JHU). You’d have to be the type that HYPSM wants.
Those who get merit money from WashU (and Vandy and Rice and USC and ND) are typically good enough to get in to Ivies/equivalents.
Merit money from Emory would be a bit easier, though still difficult. Tulane and Richmond too.

Don’t go to an ivy…otherwise you’ll be full pay.
Are you an int’l?
@PurpleTitan True. Was thinking of son’s HS classmates with admits to HYPM who ended up at Wash U and U Chicago due to merit $$
Yep that’s the reason they have it.
The other tippy-top schools that give SOME merit awards typically targert students that they can POACH from Ivys. These are students that WashU, Vandy, Rice, etc, believe will get Ivy acceptances AND will be highly desirable. They offer something unique, not just a likely Ivy acceptance. maybe they offer regional diversity. Maybe they offer ethnic diversity (this is really mostly only for DOMESTIC students). Maybe they’ve cured cancer (ok, not that extreme.)
All the tippy top schools have amazing students with very high stats so simply having top stats means nothing. You have to bring something else to the table in order to be selected to receive one other limited merit awards.
