Scholarship Awards

Seems quiet regarding Stamps. I am surprised there has been no announcement. Has anyone heard?

Haven’t heard anything about Stamps. Has anyone called recently? Not sure if they’ve been awarded yet. Just would like to know if/when they’re announcing

I was told the award notices would be issued via postal mail in the next two weeks…

Does anyone know the minimum GPA and other criteria (I believe it is cumulative?) needed to keep the scholarships while attending MU? At other schools, I have seen GPA requirements as low as 2.5 and as high as 3.2.

Still holding out for the Stamps Scholarship…Also, when will the final $$ package arrive?

what is the stamps scholarshop

Also when does FAFSA info come out

For those waiting to hear, I was told all the Stamps invitations have already been sent out via email notification when I’d called.

When did you call - I called yesterday and they said they will be sent out this week and next week. Also, don’t you find it odd that no one posted about receiving one?

@pandabear68 When you called did they mention if it would be snail mail or email? Also, did you confirm about dates for final $$ package?

@pandabear68 I called in to ask about FA things & just as an add on question at the end asked about Stamps on either Mon or Tues (it’s all blurring together now). I was transferred to someone else that I was told would be better to answer that question. It sounded like the person that finally told me this was tired of answering this question! Lol.
So maybe it was the ‘get them off my back’ answer and not actually factual or I was just transferred to someone who didn’t really know. However, I can only go off of what I was informed over the phone which was that all Stamps invitations had already gone out via email notification.
It’s not very encouraging that different people are being given different answers to the same question though! Especially for something as simple to answer as this.

As for odd that no one has posted about being invited, it doesn’t surprise me. Hardly anyone has posted about being invited from MU to Stamps interview on CC. Not exactly sure why but am thinking it may have to do with maintaining anonymity? When you get down to only 10 people being invited, it gets very easy to get identified & most students on here would like to remain anonymous I think. But I could be completely off the mark too. Just a guess

Thanks for the information - I was told the FA packages were being mailed First Class Mail on Monday March 21st.

Hmmm…when I had emailed them on the 10th, they relplied saying they would be issued postal mail in the next two weeks. I have the email still…

(The stamps scholarships)

Well, for those who are really needing or hoping for the Stamps Scholarship & haven’t received anything, I hope I was just misinformed! It definitely wouldn’t be the first time amongst all the various colleges we’ve been dealing with this season. Lol.

Exactly!!! It is a stressful time, and it seems all you hear is “…by the end of March…” to nearly every question you ask. I’ll be glad when it’s April and decisions are final:)

Does anyone know if it is possible to get Miami to raise the amount they’re giving me for scholarship? Another school gave me a greater amount than Miami, but I’d rather go to Miami. The only thing that keeps me from doing so is the cost(OOS).

Final FA package arrived yesterday, in state, materials dated 3/21. CAS scholarship and a FAFSA application dependent scholarship was awarded in addition to what was previously sent out in December letter so that was a very nice surprise!

Miami is disappointing. Son had 3.43 UW GPA and 34 ACT. Had medical documentation submitted for missing 45 days of school his sophomore year. GPA without sophomore year was 3.89 UW. Numerous volunteer hours, captain of sports teams. 8 AP classes all with 4+ test scores so far (senior year results will be later). Received ZERO in merit scholarship money (in state). High school is recognized annually as a top 10 school in the state of Ohio for academics. Visited campus 2 times in the past 12 months to really show interest. Looks like it will either be Kentucky (1/2 scholarship) or Ole Miss (Full tuition plus an extra $5K scholarship per year). Miami was the only school he didn’t receive merit from out of 8 schools total. He even has an older brother there who admittedly had less academic achievements out of high school and received some merit money. I’m wondering if he should appeal? Kentucky and Ole Miss are fine schools anyway but what a slap in the face.

@OhioJCL5 The scholarship page says that priority is given to those students who apply by December 1 - did he complete his application by that time? It never hurts to appeal if you met their stated requirements…
