Post any Tips and advice you have for Freshman to pay for college.
Tell us about grants or scholarships you got and how to apply for them.
It would be of great help to students.
All help is welcome.

Fill out the FAFSA, that would be step #1...

yup,I have done that.. What else can I do?

Have you been to fastweb?

I love how people always point to fastweb. It's the most ad ridden scholarship site I've been to, and the least helpful. 3/4s of the sites they point me to are expired or I'm not eligible for. Are you a freshmen in college or high school?

indieice, fastweb has been really useful for me, I would say about 60-75% of the scholarship results they give me are relevant, which is good enough.

A lot of people fail to thoroughly fill out the profile and then complain about not getting matching results. If you fill it out well, you should get a bunch of stuff you are eligible for.

I tried that but there were so many, I just got confused.
Whats your secret Dima

talk to your college counselor or career center counselor, and get local scholarship info from them.

freebird, I thought carefully when filling out my profile

Like in activities, I put down soccer because I play it a lot but then I figured out it gave me all these scholarships for varsity soccer players. Stuff like that. Also, I unchecked that my grandfather fought in WWII because he fought for the Soviets, that got rid of all those "children/grandchildren of US veterans scholarships"

You just have to be patient, I've read through a bunch of scholarships I wouldn't do, but intermingled with the junk are several good ones. If you really want the money, you have to look for it.

Do you suggest Fastweb? If you do i'll give it one more shot, I find it very irritating. But, u are right, if i really want the money, I really have to look for it. Thanks and wish me luck.

I do suggest fastweb, it's been very useful to me. I also suggest your school's college office. My school has a ton of scholarship information there all neatly organized for anyone who wants it.

Good luck freebird.
