Hello,

I really want to go to GT, but as an OOS student I can't really afford it without scholarships. However, I would not qualify for any need-based awards, so how many opportunities are there for merit-based aid?

Stats: 4.62 weighted GPA, good ECs, 1560 SAT.

Thanks!

I’m going to assume you got a 1560/1600, or you probably won’t even get in.

I am also out of state and did not qualify for financial aid. I got a 2220 on my SATs, 4.2/4.33 GPA, and decent ECs. And I’m Asian male.

I got a $4000 merit scholarship, but a lot of smarter people I know didn’t get any. I’m not sure how it works, but it is quite hard to get money from a public school.

Apply early [before October - nothing binding] and you may be considered for the President’s Scholar Program. We are OOS and my son had 2230 with unweighted 4.0, solid ECs and leadership. He accepted the offer of being on the PS wait list and subsequently learned by the late April before attending that he received a spot off the wait list. Was able to get $12,500 for four years plus he received an additional $5,000 this summer through a separate PS Scholarship [Fleet] to study abroad [presently at GT Lorraine taking some of his courses which were over-croweded this past Spring].

If you study abroad, Tech presently charges OOS students in-state tuition + $2,000 per semester. Tech also honors "5"s on most APs which can allow the opportunity to pursue double major or additional minors if desired.
