I did the same thing as meeeesh, applying just because it was a free application. I did interview, but never visited campus. I have great test scores (CR-710 M-800) but not that great grades (I’m 19 out of 212 or so in a pretty good public school) I do math team, band, girl scouts, I have a black belt and volunteer 5 hours a week and work another 20. So I was shocked to get a letter saying I got the $30,000 scholarship. Another girl in my school in the top 10 also applied and only got 20 so I’m wondering how they choose these.

oboeninja – From my somewhat limited experience with Ursinus, scholarship decisions are based on GPA, rigor of HS curriculum and test scores, along with rank if applicable. Your test scores probably place you in the top 1-2% among applicants. That might be the difference right there.

My D applied to U for the same reason as Meesh. She recently got a letter saying that she was offered the $30K per year scholarship. We were all surprised. She was honored, and it’s definitely put U on the top of the list.

Wow, it says they only give it to 12 people tops. Does anyone know if they offer it to more, assuming they won’t accept or if they only offer it to 12?
