Hi,
I recently received a scholarship award from the U of M, but it was not as much as I was hoping for. Does anyone know if there is a possibility of the college sending more scholarship money in the future as other students turn it down, or is that that the maximum amount that I will receive?
In the past it seems like they gave out scholarships through March. Read through past posts - it seems like UMn scholarships and when one gets them aren’t predictable. I know people have gotten one scholarship earlier on and then more later on. You could also call admissions and ask what likelihood of getting any other scholarships is. They won’t guarantee anything, but you may get a feeling of likelihood. I know some people who appealed their scholarship amount. I don’t know how commonly people do this. It wouldn’t have occurred to me to do it.
@nstephan42 D just got her financial aid notice today and it included a $2,500 scholarship which was a pleasant surprise. Apparently awards are still going out. At this point the financial aid letter is probably the best indicator of additional scholarship money.
