Scholarship Competition

Can anyone tell me about these? My S will be attending the business one. He is a good test taker in general, but it would be nice if he knew what he was going to be tested on beforehand.

My sophomore S took the engineering one two years ago. It is very competitive about 800 showed up just for the engineering exam. They said there is no real way of studying for it and that they change the format every year. We went for him to decide between Marquette and UW-Madison and chose the exam date as an additional activity. You can try ask in the facebook site Marquette University Class 2015: Real Students, Real Answers.
Good Luck!

No reason to worry or prepare. The scholly competitions are really designed to get you to visit campus with a ‘reward’ for a select number in each college based on a series of tests and sometimes group dynamic (faculty reviewed) situations. No one should count on winning. But if you are serious about MU and planning a visit, it is the weekend to go. They are held in February. Last year my daughter drove up from Chicago and learned that she could handle a dark, cold Saturday morning in February on campus. That was benefit enough.

The real money is in merit based “Ignatius” scholarships that require nothing further than your original application. Notification for those takes place in mid to late February if my memory is correct.

Does anyone know number of people for each category in Arts and Science competition ?

From Facebook - Marquette University Class of 2015: Real Students, Real Answers

Leah Strong -The first wave of decision letters went out this morning in the mail. We typically mail letters every business day for about 7 days in order to clear our mail house. We don’t mail letters in any particular order. We had over 21,000 applications so you can image how long it will take to get all the letters out.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

My son won a business scholarship. They had some multiple choice and some essays. They almost always have something on ethics and business.

@busybusy23 My S sat for the U.S. History exam (2/12/11). He first estimated over 100 attendees and then backed off and said maybe there weren’t that many. Although it was a large room, there were seats between each test taker.

Do know that there were 700+/- for all tests in the A&S college. That was announced at the parent meeting.

Anyone know when results are anticipated?

I know the business competition letters are in the mail, that test was Feb 5th.
