When will we start to receive scholarships from MSU?

Accepted Mid-September

From what I read on MSU’s website, they will be sending out Financial Aid/Scholarship letters on a rolling basis between November and May. So-keep checking your mail.

I got my letter for the ADS competition about a week ago, and I was accepted in October.

Does anyone know what the minimum gpa and act are to be considered for any of the MSU scholarships? Are the personal statements taken into account as well?

It highly depends on the scholarship. The only for sure ones are those in the honors college. Are your stats high enough for that?

Wait, so if you’re in the Honors College, you automatically get a scholarship of some kind?

^ Yes, [Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen](http://honorscollege.msu.edu/scholarships/incoming_freshmen.html)

S got an email and phone call yesterday from Honors College asking for a phone interview next week for consideration of additional scholarships (already got in-state tuition grant worth $15,800 and PA). Not trying to brag - just letting people know they are starting to give out additional scholarships already.

^ Congrats to your son ktt :).

congratz to your son kttmom! :)

Thanks! It’s always nice to know someone wants you enough to throw some money your way…

This is kinda a dumb question, but what exactly does “non resident” mean?

I’ve been invited to the honors college, and got an invitation to participate for the ADS. Are there other scholarships that I will automatically get just for being in the honors college?

Thanks for the help!!

Non-resident means that you are out-of-state. I’m not sure whether or not it qualifies for internationals.

Those are the scholarships and they are all automatic based on the criteria that is listed. I’m not sure if there are any more automatic ones or not.

any automatic scholarships, the honors college will let you know. Just FYI, if you have the grant to-in-state tuition (for out-of-state students), you will not receive the $8000/yr Honors College National scholarship. There are really no more additional ones that are specified…you kind-of just have to wait and see if they contact you for any further opportunities.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but will it hurt me in any way if I submitted my app in early October, then it took my school until November 6th to get them my transcript?

Dang it, I guess my ACT is too low to be getting any merit money =[
