Hey! Does anyone know when NM will send out the funds for the scholarships (or, in my case, a corporate scholarship) to our designated college? I have to pay my bill in full by August 1st, so I was just wondering if they will send in the money before that.

Contact your college. They are notified about the scholarship amount and they could make the necessary adjustments to the amount due i.e. reduce your bill by the amount of the scholarship, so that you are not required to pay the amount. Scholarships are disbursed in August but often it takes time before it gets credited to your account, so it may not show up till later. You may need to contact the Bursars office rather than the financial aid office to get this sorted out. It is very unlikely that it will be credited to your account by August 1st.

We saw the NM show up as deposited to the college’s account twice a year, in September and January, later in each month. The scholarship was divided into two payments. Our college excluded the scholarship (half from each semester’s invoice) because they knew it was coming from NMSC.

^^^^ most colleges do that (exclude the scholarship from the invoice), but I have heard of at least one case where that did not happen. So best is to check with the college.

My daughter’s school does not credit the NM scholarship. We pay what we are billed in August/December and the school sends a refund check after the semester starts. Hers is not a huge amount, but if it were bigger, I would contact the school.
