Scholarship/Financial Aid

I have already been accepted to Tulane more than a month ago and was wondering: How to you find out if you received any scholarships, and when does the Financial Aid packages come out

Any of the scholarships that you didn’t have to apply for would have been included in your acceptance letter. The CCS is awarded by April 1st. The DHS notifications are before February 20th. Financial aid is notified on April 15th.

Deadline for DHS has already past and I believe that CSS deadline is January 15th, so technically you still have time to apply although a recommendation letter is needed so you have have to move pretty swiftly.

hge - Did you receive the snail mail letter or have you only seen your acceptance online?

Do scholarships show up online? Or do we have to wait for the acceptance letter to find out about scholarships?

Only in the paper letter, not online.

CSS deadline is February 15th

ansar - you might not be talking about the same thing. The CSS referenced above is the Community Service Scholarship and that deadline for application was January 15.

[Tulane Admission: Community Service Scholarship Applicaiton Deadline](http://admission.tulane.edu/livecontent/events/210-community-service-scholarship-applicaiton-deadline.html)

Oh…my apologies.

This was very confusing…there was another CSS form floating around- I’m guessing from a previous year – mentioning partial to full scholarships, which was the only way I guessed it wasn’t from this year.

Oh, and on the CSS form from this year, there was a typo. “Beetween” instead of “between” =D

The confusion is that the more common use of CSS is for a financial aid form that is usually filed with the FAFSA. I think it stands for College Scholarship Service. That is what ansar meant. But here we were talking specifically about Tulane schoarships, the DHS and Community Service Scholarship (CSS). It is an unfortunate overlap.

Well, when people talk about the CSS (College Scholarship Service), they usually say CSS Profile. I guess I just thought “well, they’re not putting Profile because there’s no other CSS acronym out there…”

Sorry for the confusion!

I’ve already been accepted, and offered a presidential scholar award and admittance to the Honors Program. My Gibson account tells me that

“Tulane Financial Aid Homepage <this is=”" a=“” link=“”>
If you have applied for admission to Tulane for fall 2010, please check back at this site in January 2010 for information regarding your financial aid application. Click the link above to visit our homepage for general information, including how to apply for financial aid."</this>

But when I click that link, I see just a webpage of the financial aid office - nothing personal at all. How long do I have to wait?

Congrats on acceptance, $25K and Honors Program! Nice way to start the New Year.

I know last year someone said it was around the last week in March when they started hearing back. But I have no independent confirmation if that is generally true or just that person. I can understand them waiting until after the Feb 15 deadline, but other than that I am just not sure. I strongly suggest you call the financial aid office and ask if you will see any personal updates or if they do it all at once, and what the time frames generally are.

Have you sent them your CSS profile and FAFSA?
They cant make a determination of need based aid until they have at least those documents.

what if we sent the CSS stuff in a month ago? Would we hear back on a rolling basis?

I think you will have to call financial aid and ask about that one, nkskippers. Just out of curiosity, you from North Kingstown, RI? I am in EG.

They need the FAFSA also, and that requires 2009 tax return info for yourself and your parents.

Thank you. I’ve submitted my CSS profile. I’m an international student.

Does anybody know whether or not EVERY college student (including those that receive a merit based $15,000) are required to fill out the FAFSA and/or the CSS forms?? We are not expecting or applying for any type of financial aid (wouldn’t qualify) but my daughter did receive a $15,000 award and has applied for the Community Service Scholarship and Dean’s Honor Scholarship. I am in a panic because somebody told me that everybody had to fill this form out, regardless of whether they are applying for financial aid, and that my daughter could lose her $15,000 and the form is due Feb. 1, which is Monday. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!
