I Am A Nigerian. I Think You Can Help Me. I Saw This Site In One Of My Many Searches. You Proferred (or I Think) Solution To The Problem Of One 'tosh'. Could You Also Help Me?
I Am A Nigerian Who Wants To Study In The United States. I Want To Study Engineering And I Have Writeen The Sat. I Have A Total Of 1340 In My Last One. I Need A Full Scholarship. Do You Have A University That Has Not Passed The Deadline And Yet Will Give Full Scholarship To An International Student?
Pls I Need Your Urgent Answer.
Thanks

hmm, i'm not sure how i can help you. the schools that will give you the most money are definitely harvard, yale, princeton, and mit. stanford won't give u much money, nor will columbia. the problem is that all the aforementioned schools have made their regular decisions for this year. i hope this helps. i know how hard it must be for you, i'm an international as well and struggling to get financial aid.

Thank you all for your reply. i appreciate them but i still need more help.
what do you think i can do now? i need a university to apply to that will give full tuition and yet whose deadline has not closed.
do you think Denver might waive their deadline?
how about spring semester? what schools can you advice with my score?
will i be granted VISA at the embassy if i'm admitted for spring?
thanks a million.

typop, you definitely are VERY late now. It seems a tough ask right now, specially because there are so many criterias to be met. I am sorry but I doubt if you will find a college that gives full aid and is still open for applications this fall. I am unable to provide information about spring admissions.
I am an international student myself and have come to know that its usually the good schools only that are generous in aid and if you are looking for full scholarship, you have to apply to these good schools. Unfortunately, most colleges (actually all I know of) are well past their deadlines and are now near to making decisions rather than taking in applications. I still suggest that you email all colleges of your choice and explain your situation. US colleges are VERY liberal and some college might just hear you out.
Just out of curiosity, what are your stats?
Good luck and hope all this helped.

why not call and find out for yourself? nobody here can be sure of anything at this time. get the info from the horse's mouth, dude.

I got to the site of Denver University and looks like the deadline is June 1st. I'm sure there is scholarship for a score of 1300. i mean full tuition, room and board. i'll try to call 'em. the only problem i have is that the percentage of international students there is just 6%. i'm not sure if they'll consider me. what do u think?
i appreciate ur reply. should've called 'em but u should know this is now a frustrated fellow as i've surfed a lot and am beginning to get tired. thanks anyway.

typop, if their deadline hasn't passed you should call them but be sure to ask whether the scholarship is available for international students. btw some of the public schools have deadlines around june. you can go at collegeboard.com and make an account there. through it you can search for colleges which deadlines haven't passed yet. i'm pretty sure there are such. but you should explore their financial aid options very well. very few schools give financial aid (as of need-based) to international students. most of them give only merit based. so you must be sure to be above the average criteria for the scholarship and make sure the amount will be enough, cause some merit based scholarships are only 5k for example. i understand your position very well cause i'm an international as well. i also suggest if you find universities with june deadlines, then take the sat once again. 1340 is not bad but you should really shine out to get a merit scholarship. hope i've been helpful:) good luck!

you know typop, im not extremely well informed, but you seem to have the right attitude, and im sure you can find a way, because you can always persist, all the best!

You see, I've learnt a lot from the American experience. Before you begin anything, I want you to ask yourself these questions:

What do I really want in life?

Why do I want to study in USA?

What really matters to me and why?

You shouldn't just want to go anywhere because you are offered a full scholarship. You need to know what you really want. And again you shouldn't have this mentality of wanting to get out by all means. Be patient and choose carefully. Don't rush. I tell you, if you just apply somewhere because you think you will get full scholarship, you are taking a wrong path. Know yourself, know what you want and you will be the happier.

So I think you should just relax and let all this go for now and rethink it all through. Choose very very carefully.

and typop, who could you be?
if you live in North Ibadan, then I may know you or must have seen you somewhere. Or if you lived South around 1990-1996. Did you go to ISI? or did you come to the Library at Jericho?
