Scholarship for studying Arabic

Is anyone aware of specific information on US government aid/scholarships for students studying Arabic? This was set up after September 11. I've read several references about such, but have never been able to find information.

Thank you...

Just remember there are income restraints on that (so if your parents make a lot you'll be ineligible). Also, you're bound to work for them with a period of time, so if you want to get your masters or whatever you will be delaying that.

Manderz, I don't think that's right. I checked out the NSA program for math people a couple of years ago and it was not need based, it was deferrable for further education (at least in the field they are interested in), and it was non-binding (if you decide not to work for them it converts to loans). Maybe it's changed or maybe it's different for language study, but anyone who is interested should go there themselves and read the fine print.

The dealine is over, so you can't apply anymore, but yeah, if you decide not to work for them later, you'll have to pay back the government whatever it paid for you. I really wanted to apply, since I'm studying Arabic, but I couldn't since I'm not a US citizen. Maybe after sophomore year, then I would only have to work for three years before getting my masters. Does anyone know of any other scholarships for people studying arabic. I thought there would be more, since there is a shortage of people working in this field now, but I can't find any.

The income cutoff is somewhere between 82,000$ and 88,000$. If your parents combined income is above that you don't qualify.

So I won't qualify anyway. There definetly have to be other scholarships out there though!
