Scholarship Frauds

Are there any scholarship frauds of today that I need to be aware of? I'm currently a sophmore going onto a freshman and I feel kind of worried about my college pathway. I know now that the "National Honor Roll" is one of them, and I didn't realized that until now. I'm really stressed that my information is going to be sold and I feel like a total idiot that I actually believed them!. So as not to make future mistakes like this one, could anyone tell me of any other scholarship frauds I need to know about?

Any scholarship that requires money is a fraud. Any scholarship SERVICE that requires money is a fraud. Sites like fastweb are good and free.
Also, I don't think National Honor Roll is a fraud, they just try to rip you off by asking that you buy a book. It's still an award though, just don't buy the book because it's not worth it.

So basically being in it won't hurt my chances at getting into any colleges? I've already gotten into the National Junior Honor Society, which I know is legitimate, and I do have other EC's that are pretty good. But I'm pretty skeptical about the National Honor Roll since I've done research on it and it seems that most people say that its useless and is a fraud. Is it truly a reward, or a scam? I don't want to put something on my college application in the future that will hurt my chances. My top colleges I want to go to are U.C.L.A, U.C.S.D, U.C.B, or any other Ivy League schools. I'd literallly die if I had to go to a community college =p... But thanks for the info, i'll keep that in mind for future references.
