So for the Schloarship, my GPA meets the qualification for the top scholarship but my SAT does not. But I had an interruption in my schooling, will they take that into account? And if they don't, do you think they will go by the GPA or the SAT?

having both the GPA and test scores is by far teh best route. i suggest u retake SAT or take the ACT. have u analyzed which test u think u will do better on? also, double check their scolarhship info because i think they superscore. if you want to pm me on your scores, i’m cool with that. or if u want to post them on here, that works too. i am just curious how close you are to top score. no need to divulge that info if you don’t want to. also, retake the test asap as you have to appeal decision by Jan 15th i think. if you could post a link to teh scholly requirments for this year, that would help too. i don;t think interrupted schooling would affect test score analysis. however, isn’t it now possible to get top scholly without even submitting test scores at all? if so, maybe the interrupted schooling could play a role, or if u have some other evidence that the test scores underrate your true abiliites. however, still wise to retest as the score in hand is better than a great argument requesting top scholly. as is, what would have happened last year, is they would have given you scholly tied into ur test score. since scores are now test optional, im not sure how things will work this year but u ahve a chance to up scholly with lower test scores is my best guess. however, you have to prove your case.

My GPA is a 3.8 which includes special weighting for AP and Honors courses and does not include any non-academic courses.

I took both tests. 28 on the ACT, 1340 on the 1600 score of the SAT when superscored. I took the SAT twice and the ACT once, I only did ten points better on my second SAT. Everything else on my second SAT was worse.

The reason I mention interrupted schooling is because of the situation with the reason I was out and the stress from the school, I developed migraines and my performance in school and testing has dropped since then.

ok, then consider not retesting. you have tested enough areadly and u don;t need the stress!!! you could bring up those points as stress could be affecting your ability to do as well on tests as you are capable of. at this point and i jsut glanced at chart, you will get deans scholarship on SAT scores and gpa. however, since u are only 20 points from provost, maybe Temple woudl bump you up to provosts if you wrote a compellling letter but i am just taking a wild guess there. they may keep you at Dean’s schol. maybe they’ll go for presidential, it can not hurt to ask. i think presedential is a long shot though. if you can handle another test and think you could pull the SAT up 20 or more points, that is still safest route to upping the scholarship. i assume u have done more practice tests than u want at this point but are you showing any signs of reasonably pulling score up? you alos have to consider yourself. if you cannot personally handle retesting, let it go at this point. have you checked Temple’s net price calculator to estimate your out of pocket costs? you may qualify for need based aid and if so, you may not need the provost scholarhship. however, you would not get the $4000 stipedn with the dean’s scholarship. can u get extra time to take tests due to anxiety issues?

@ctl987 I guess I’ll just have to suck it up. I don’t think me taking one of the tests again would do me much justice.

i hear u, There are some tests i never want to take again either! Write the best letter you can supporting the higher scholarship and that the test results understate your ability and the medical issues you have faced and are overcoming. if you can get your guidance counselor and/or a couple of teachers to write letters not only on your ability but are how you are overcoming the medical trials, that won’t hurt either. also, it looks like you can still apply to the honors program with the dean’s schlolarship and if you get into honors, then you do get one stipend. Temple has resources when you get there for counseling if you need or want counseling as well as something called teh Tuttleman learning center, which may be able to help you with managing stress at the collegiate level. i deal with stress and migraines too so i feel for you on both counts. i hope you have found good treatment for the migraines as they are debilitating and finding the best treatment can take time.

By some magic, they weighted my classes and came up with a gpa of 3.13 so even though my SAT is like two tiers higher, they gave me the lowest scholarship, which really sucks.

that does suck u could appeal the GPA issue.

I’m going to appeal it. My admissions counselor emailed me the info to do it so I’m going to send mid-year grade reports and hopefully explaining my situation will do something as well.

Good, happy u are appealing it. is the deadline Jan 15th?

Yup, that’s the deadline.
