As the acceptance letters start to trickle in, so do the questions about Trustee and Presidential Scholarships. Hopefully this thread will give you a place to find answers to all of your questions!

The acceptance packet is the same for everyone who gets into USC at any time in the process. Information about scholarships is sent separately, usually a few days later. In that information, you will receive a congratulations letter and information about the Explore USC program. This is mandatory to receive either of the top two scholarships.

Dates for Explore USC this year:
Thursday, Feb 21 - Friday, Feb. 22
Monday, Feb 25 - Tuesday, Feb. 26
Thursday, Feb 28 - Friday, Feb. 29
Monday, Mar 3-Tuesday, Mar. 4
Thursday, Mar 6- Friday, Mar. 7

Some of those dates are only for Trustee interviews, and some are only for presidential interviews. More information on them will be in the packet.

There are several parts to these days. Look up some past posts from last year to find out more. Some basic parts however, are:
Tour of Campus
Welcome Presentation
Thematic Option Presentation
Student Interview Panels (ask a student...)
Overnight stay with a student in dorms/apartments
Morning Scholarship Interviews
Attend a class
And meals...

More information on the actual interview process a little bit later.

Next link has a caveat attached to it. I have no idea if you can use the same link to figure out what scholarship you have this year. You guys need to figure it out for yourselves:

Thank you so much for the information!
1. If you have received an acceptance letter already, does that guarantee that you're being considered for trustee and presidential? I'm confused on that because people are giving different answers.
2. If it's only for consideration, when do you know the actual results?
3. Also, how many people are considered (since app 100 / 200 awards are given)?

It isn't absolutely guaranteed, but it is highly likely. Try that second link and see what you can find out. That's a trick people found last year to see which scholarship they had gotten. I have NO idea if it works or is accurate, but you can try.

You learn the results at the end of March/beginning of April.

Probably about twice the number of awards given, but I don't know the exact stats. They'll tell you when you get here.

Thanks Nikara for the helpful info and links!

Just wondering (if indeed these early acceptances mean scholarship consideration), is the parent also invited to at least hear the welcome and TO presentations?

question: if you're in so cal and you basically can get to usc with no prob by vehicle, do you still get invited to stay overnight, and do your parents get a hotel stay too...?

I recognize the weirdness of this question.

You definitely get to stay overnight if you are from Southern California. Your parents can if they want to. I'm from Southern California, and my mom wanted to go home for the night to take care of my siblings, and that was fine.

There aren't really any specific qualifications, other than applying by the scholarship deadline. Usually they will post average award recipient info; this is what it says on the website for Trustee (presidential is similar):

"Applicants pursue the most demanding curriculum and achieve at the highest level. Average SAT and ACT scores are in the top 1–2 percent of all students nationwide. In addition to academic criteria, candidates’ talent, involvement and leadership are considered."

There aren't any specific qualifications that must be met, however.

so is everyone that's been accepted already considered for scholarships, since we were in the first wave? or could some people be accepted, w/o interview offers/consideration for merit scholarships?

presidential scholarship candidate alsoooo! i know its great but sadly i can only think about what the trustee scholarship would've been like. no tuition whatsoever...that would've been nice
