My son was hoping and did not receive anything, either. He is 4th of 885, good ecs, 2290 SAT, etc. Oh, well.

It's not cruel. At least D knows she is going somewhere this early. There is still hope for NMF.

i didnt even recieve an acceptance letter yet, i just am able to log into usc events & see the explore usc weekend dates but it doesnt say anything about schoalrships....im confused?

I got my letter of acceptance the other day, but when I log onto the RSVP system and click Reserve for Explore USC, it just says, "Congratulations on your admission to USC! We are delighted that you have an interest in visiting campus..." Does this mean I am not up for a scholarship?

How come people are getting accepted early with no scholarships?

It would be wonderful if one of the students or parent of a student who got the scholarship letter could put up the information relevant to parents on the board. What expense is USC offerring to pay for out-of-town students and their parent? Any arrangements for airport transportation? Any hotel arrangements? USC will put up the srudent for only one night, night after the first day? Do they have any suggestions for the night before the first day?
Thanks in advance.

sanjosedadof1: USC will assist with portion of airfare if booked through USCs travel agency. (A paper included in letter is supplied that directs one to USCs travel outfit). USC will pay to max $60 if flying from Calif, Arizona, Nevada...to max $200 if flying from anywhere else. (Not stated if this is for BOTH student and parents) Travel agency also offers and arranges special airfare, car rentals, hotel accomodations(I assume special rates). It's a matter of filling out the form provided and receiving a quote. A phone # is provided for more info from that travel agency. The student stays in USC dorm overnight. I imagine other nights student would stay at the hotel. For Explore there is also a $50 fee/person.
Hope this helps for now.

My scholarship paper actually got sent to someone else in their envelope, and the person that received it sent it to me. It's a bit disconcerting that stuff like that can get mixed up so easy...

Because of that I didn't get anything other than the actual paper that mentioned the presidential scholarship, so thanks Sequoia for posting the Explore info!

Can anyone tell me whether or not you are guarunteed the national merit scholarship if you are a finalist? It seems that way, but I just wanted to make sure.

nvm, I just called and got an answer. I also found out you should have received notification about presidential and trustees by now, so for all of us hoping we still have a shot, probably not anymore. I just can't believe I got a bacc/md interview and not even an interview for either of those. Oh well.

The NMF scholarships are a re handled differently than the others. If you are accepted and you are an NMF who named USC as your top choice, the you will get the NMF version of the Presidential scholarship (half off of tuition for four years). A previous thread noted that the info about this arrived pretty late for her child.

inthemoney, my thoughts exactly. (i also called and got the same reply)

When do they tell you if you qualify for a scholarship? Is it when they send you the admit letter or does it come after?

i dont know. someone help us out!?

Take another look at post #1 here- (paragraph 2)
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/454572-scholarship-information.html

okay is anyone else on here VERY confident that they shoul; have received a scholarship but has yet to be notified?? unite!

bump bump bump

question: i am now able to log into the site and see that i am accepted, but it makes no mention of scholarships...which i thought for sure i would be getting with my stats. also, it allows me to the register for explore usc events and such so idk. im confused; someone please interpret: could i still be receiving a scholarship?

Congratulations on your acceptance. What major? I'm just guessing, but if you have Explore dates in April, then those are the dates without scholarship interviews. And to answer your first question, I think there are plenty of people who think they deserve a scholarship, but life doesn't always work like that. Depends a lot on the major you chose, as the scholarships are allocated to each college, and the smaller ones get relatively few and may be more competitive for admissions in general.

To Caliboil,
Are you NMF? Maybe you are not considered for trustee or presidential but you will get the NMF regular scholarship, which does not require interview (less hassle) and is for the same amount of money (half tuition) as presidential.
