Scholarship Interview Attire

I know they suggest "business attire" for the trustee interview, but what exactly does that mean? I know business attire is usually a suit set, but for some reason I feel like thats a little bit too much for this type of interview. Opinions anyone?

are you a boy or a girl??

if your a girl: nice dressy pants/ long skirt and no low shirts. wear a button down sweater or something nice with a tank top under

guys: sweater, khakis ect

basically... look preppy

I'm a girl

and you don't think a button down shirt with a skirt is too casual? hmm i guess a more business-y type skirt and shirt? thanks!

My s was under the impression that he had to wear a suit for the Trustee interview. Any opinions out there??

A suit would be fine, but isn't required. Nice slacks, a collared long sleeve shirt and maybe a tie would be fine. For girls, a nice skirt and shirt/sweater would be fine, although you can go fancier if you wish. Just make sure to bring a change of clothes for after the interview.

a button down shirt with a skirt isn't too casual.... just put on some nice shoes (not too high). Also, make sure the skirt isn't short at all (at my interview many girls wore the COMPLETELY wrong thing)

Just don't look like you're too fancy/trying too hard and you will be fine!

My daughter wore nice pin-striped slacks, a V-necked sweater with a tank top underneath and flat shoes. She looked very nice but was also entirely comfortable (which was important because she was nervous enough about the interview). Girls last year were wearing all kinds of outfits from suits to dresses to pants. The only one we saw who looked inappropriately dressed was wearing clothes that were ridiculously wrinkled - she looked like she had slept in her outfit.

bump... interviews are coming up shortly! good luck to all!

some more questions/points

students will most likely not have irons, so bring something folded very nicely or doesnt need folding

anyone know the weather for the first two interviews?

how much walking will there actually be? this pertains to shoes

anything anyone else wants to ask?

there's no such thing as "too fancy/trying too hard"
Suit sets are good.

i think business attire means a suit for a guy. i was interview ing for marshall though.. not that that matters? i dont think it is 'trying' too hard, considering it is for a full-ride. they want you to take them seriously! and that usc is your first choice.

it is rainy, so bring a jacket to wear over your suit.
