Scholarship money left over..

Save it - you might take summer classes or something where 1.5k is really good - so in the long run, make an investment with it. Buying a TV might hurt you since they might make you slack off a bit (I don’t know you, so sorry this is just a huge leap).

Also spend it on other items you may need for college. Anyways Congrats on the scholarship, though you could use the rest to help pay off next semester or your dorm…

“Very true, most games don’t output in 1080p, and sure some computers can, but the native resolution of a lot of computers is usually 1200 by 800 anyways. Same goes for TV broadcasters, it would take up a lot of bandwidth, so most companies broadcast in either 720p or 1080i. You practically have to be a foot or two away from the TV to notice the difference with 32”, but when you get to 40 or 46", then 1080p might be worth it. Yea I won’t be using Blu-Ray anytime soon, but I guess it might be nice to futureproof the TV, but again 1080p is like a gimmick to convince customers to buy a more expensive TV. I guess if I’m going to spend any of this extra scholarship money, I should be even more cautious when I’m spending money on things like printers, TVs, etc than when I’m trying to save it."

Computers don’t have “native resolutions.” Computers have video cards that can output a minimum and maximum resolution, and many in-between, at various bit depths and frequencies.

Content isn’t broadcasted in “i” or “p.” Do you know what those mean? Content can be sent at any resolution – it is up to the display to render it interlaced or progressively.

I don’t understand why college students get such nice TVs. My friend got a 46" flatscreen for her dorm room. What happens when someone splashes beer on it? How do you hang it up without using nails? I feel like it’s just asking for trouble. A laptop is one thing, since you’ll actually need it, but you probably won’t need a TV.

You should use that money to establish your own scholarship fund.

Savvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve it omg. Despite the fact that I got my tuition cut down to less than half with more fin aid and found cheaper housing I still have so many expenses (more books this year, volunteering abroad, etc) I’m saving as much as possible. Next year I have no clue what they are giving me and I think my dad is getting a better job (even though he doesnt pay jack) which means less fin aid for me. :(

I got a 19" or maybe 20" I dont remember Toshiba for $199 right after christmas with a built in DVD thingy and it works awesome with my Wii.

I found a TV on the side of the road. I Windexed it and plugged it in. Bam. Free TV.

I found a TV on the side of a road once, too. Except I didn’t keep it.

Because it was this: <a href=“ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs”>ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs;
