... or maybe 5 people have viewed it 1,000 times each!

Haha yeah I check it maybe 3 times a day. Tomorrow will be crazy because people get Robertson notifications (for Duke) by email...but only if they got selected for the next round...so CC is really useful, to see if/when others get the email

Well as far as I can tell, the view counter only counts new viewers... Oh and good luck with Duke Mallomar!

Interesting, chet - I think you're right!

Does anyone know if Wash U. re-distributes merit scholarship dollars if students choose to forgo the award? Or do they basically "overbook" the awards (as most colleges do for acceptances) knowing some students will choose to go elsewhere? I know students who have been nominated for some of their large awards, but Wash U. is low on their wish list, and they are considering only because they have not yet heard from other colleges. At the same time, my student would say yes immediately if the dollars could work. Basically....is there hope for any merit award funding from those who have NOT been selected the first time around?

Merit awards at WashU are "overbooked" with the number being offered derived from past statistics. Remember being nominated is only the first step in the process. Nominees are filtered to semifinalists and then to finalists. They seem quite good at identifying those most likely to accept, when they meet the candidates at Scholarship Interview Weekend. Candidates for these two weekends should either know by now or within the next week if they are invited to either of the two weekends.

Has everyone been notified already? And is it only by telephone or by email and snailmail also?

No one has yet been contacted for the honorary scholars scholarship in the arts and sciences. No one on CC, that is. Letters are mailed on Monday Feb. 26, though.

do they do all notification for each scholarship in a day or is it over a week or so?

MallomarCookie, do you know when the University Scholars Program notification was sent out?

USP was last Friday for the most part.

oh i see, thanks, chet

Did they have the USP interview thing this weekend? Bc today I was early for class so was sitting in LabSci (where most of the chem labs are), and I noticed several groups of a single student and two adults who were telling the student about the school/answering their questions. I thought it was interesting at the time, especially once I realized that the students were highschool students.

reading this thread makes me anxiousXD it reminds me of when all the HPME applicants started getting calls/emails and i kept waiting week after week for mine to come. it didn't come after all that waiting. i think the best thing to do regarding these things is to NOT think about it (probably better for your health too), and if a scholarship letter happens to arrive, then you'll just feel extra happy b/c you didn't expect it :)

Good call sakura, but I think it's easier said than done. lol

and just because you don't hear right away does not mean it won't come. i received a half-ride last year in Februrary. However, i did not decline the scholarship and admission until the end of April, which i believe opened up the slot (not positive though)

eagle36 - read the posts regarding "overbooking" and using past statistics to determine how many scholarships are offered in order to achieve the target yield.

Soooooo no Honorary Scholars semifinalists have heard yet? I guess we really do have to wait for the letter. Darned committees!

In the past, notifications for the semi finalists for the first Interview weekend were completed before they began with notifications for the second weekend. Since Honorary Scholars interviews take place the second weekend, I would immagine that people should hear during the next week or so. Remember that WashU has to make travel arrangements for all of the people who will attend the weekends. That is quite a bit of logistics to coordinate.

Well yeah ST2 that makes sense, someone posted earlier that Wash U was going to mail letters tomorrow (Monday the 26th)
