Scholarship Notification?

Hey guys, I got defferred early action, and got my acceptance letter today lol..

Anyway, are they going to offer scholarship money? Otherwise I am not even considering Tulane

Congrats!

FIND the money, and you will be happy.

If there was no mention of a scholarship in the acceptance letter, then they did not offer you one. You would definitely see it, it isn’t like they hide it or anything.

If that means you are taking Tulane off the table, then it would be nice if you told them that right away. It helps another student that might be wanting a slot, and it helps Tulane plan better.

COA less scholarship less FA = your part, Ksychic.

Wait until you see the final package before making a decision.

There is no scholarship, and I imagine she has a pretty good handle on her EFC, based on her other posts.

^^^ Hence my recommendation.

No scholarship money? Eww…

Ksychic - getting back to normal programming, I saw you posted your SAT scores on another thread. They are on the low side for Tulane, especially your CR. That is probably why you didn’t get any merit scholarship. I don’t know your UW GPA and other factors so I don’t have much to go on, but that is probably the reason.

BTW, if you are still considering UTD it is considered one of the up and coming schools. I don’t know a lot about it and I don’t know anything about what the atmosphere is like there, but I have seen it cited a couple of times as a school that has made a lot of progress and is attracting a higher level student than just a short time ago. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck.

Wait so I’m confused, I sent in my application on the last possible day, they answered me back in two weeks with an acceptance. Straight away they decided I wasn’t up to par for a scholarship if it wasn’t included in the admission letter? That sure does suck, going to be a lot harder convincing the rents to fly me down for four years without any merit money…

You were lucky to hear back that fast, but based on your stats I saw on the Miami thread, I think you are a little below the usual scholarship offer level. Tulane does indeed make merit scholarship decisions at the time of acceptance.

Thanks so much Fallenchemist!

CoolRunning … please stop with the cheap rhetoric. I’ve seen some of your not so tongue-in-cheek comments, and we get the point. Fallenchemist is a WONDERFUL resource for those people looking to get information about Tulane, and the college search process generally. He has continuously stated that he DOES NOT work for the university, but is offering his comments based on his own experience and knowledge … and sometimes, yes, opinion … of how Tulane works, what to expect of New Orleans and campus life in general. He freely admits if he’s made a mistake or if someone else has offered better, or more current, information. If it’s weren’t for those like him on this and other college’s CC pages, parents would be much worse off. There is nothing to be gained by the tone of your postings. If you don’t agree, so be it. You are free to state you case and then move on. You can bet that most who follow the content here, value his efforts greatly and are taking your comments at less than face value and giving them the inverse “weight” that your tone commands. My 2 cents.

CoolingRunning dont get why you have a hair up your ass about Fallenchemist. The information he has provided has been very informative and helpful for me. Wish more of the schools had someone to provide information like this.

I agree with the other posters here. I recall in 2008-2009 as the parent of a freshman, providing info about Tulane to those who would listen to my ramblings based on our experiences. One very attentive ear was FC’s. His dau won the same scholarships my DS did and when he became the parent of a freshman, he took the reins as the “parent in the know” and jumped by leaps and bounds, with ten times more info, enhanced by his beinbg an alum as well.

Please no need to make snide comments about the posters here. We should all be on the same page-- really.

I will agree to disagree. But its all good.

^^^^ I’m sure you must be wearing sun glasses to protect yourself from your glaring wit. Funny only you can see it though. Travel wide, meson, travel wide.

Wait, still no facts about “Friday” … ??? … huh … guess not …

So, if we are Bob Marley-ing: “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”

LOL … OK now, I’m having fun.

And perhaps more appropriately:

“Free speech carries with it some freedom to listen.”

– Bob Marley

Out …
