Congrats to all that have gotten notifications of scholarships. Time is passing and we have not yet heard anything from Pitt regarding any possible scholarship. We are instate, my daughter applied in Oct, we were accepted late Oct. She has a 4.0 UW GPA, an ACT of 33 and SAT of 2210 (1500 CR and M).

Just curious if all of you experts think we should call admissions and inquire, or sit tight and see what happens.

Pitt is one of my Dtr’s top choices, but we wont hear from her other schools until spring.

My OOS daughter was accepted in October with similar scores and also has not heard about a scholarship. I contacted the admissions office last week and was told that notifications would not go out until January.

My daughter has the same stats of SAT 2230 (Math and reading of 1460) and haven’t heard anything on the scholarship. She is hoping for some kind of scholarship. She applied in August and got the accepted to the honors college in mid October.

Add us to the list of those awaiting scholarship info - acceptance letter dated Oct 6th. OOS daughter has very similar stats to the three of you. We talked to an admissions officer at the Picture Yourself with Pitt weekend and she said that candidates are often reviewed by the scholarship committee multiple times before an offer is extended due to both the competitive nature of the program as well as rolling admissions. She also told us that the committee meets only on Fridays. I’m glad we aren’t the only ones with good stats still waiting as it means there is still some hope of a scholarship, but the wait is frustrating and a bit discouraging when so many here have received offers already. Really, really hoping that something comes through! Good luck to the rest who are also waiting!

It could be that the next round of scholarship offers may be going out all at the same time, in this case, January. Like people have said, the committee only meets once a week. It sucks to wait, but it’s nice knowing that there’s no rush to enroll until the end of April, so waiting a bit longer isn’t detrimental to going to Pitt at all.

I just received full-tuition scholarship offer today in the mail. Letter is dated December 2nd. This all just happened so quickly. I feel so badly for those having to wait…I hope you hear soon!

Thank you!! I’m instate. 3.9+ gpa, 31 Act (32 superscored). Submitted essay and 2 LORs as supplemental. I know I don’t even compare to some of the students on here who haven’t heard back yet…I’m just so grateful for this opportunity.

Congrats! That’s really excellent! That means that that another round of scholarship decisions was made on Dec. 2nd. The rest of us can start checking the mailboxes again! You should be very proud of your achievements in H.S. Yolo- your efforts paid off!

My son got a letter from the Chancellor today congratulating him for his acceptance, do you think that means no scholarship money. We weren’t thinking he’d get any, but would be nice. He has 1450 M&CR SATs but only so so grades; he did have a 3.8 UW with 3APs this quarter and 750 Math SAT II and 680 Physics SAT II in Oct. Do you think we should send these in?

Wow, friend of mine recently got accepted to Pitt with slightly higher GPA than mine and a 2250 SAT and still only got $10,000. Must have been the SAT score but I’m still shocked.

@pittpride - our D also got the Chancellor’s letter late last week. Was disappointed that it wasn’t a scholarship letter. Then again her CR+M was 1260 though her grades we nearly a perfect 4.0 - Perhaps the major may have something to do with it. D was accepted to Nursing and they may not be so generous … plus we are in-state. Funny thing, D received the max Trustees Scholarship from Allegheny College which now makes it less costly than Pitt for her to study Bio (pre-med).

Our D received the same Chancellor’s “Congratulations” Letter about one week ago, but no scholarship offer.

Perhaps her scores/GPA are too low: 1440 SAT (780V; 660M); Superscore SAT 2240 (780V; 660M; 800W); GPA is 4.02 W. Oh well. We are OOS and some extra money would really make Pitt a more attractive option.

@Marmaduke513 - Agree with you about the scores … plus Pitt Nursing is super competitive to get in. D actually has her heart set on pre-med despite the risks. Allegheny College is a LAC that has a good pre-med program but it’s tuition/room+board, etc. runs $46k. Their $20k merit offer ($80k over 4 years) makes the cost very competitive with Pitt in-state. Good luck to you and your D (was she Nursing?). YJ76

I think the letters are all separate; an admissions letter is first and then the scholarship letter comes later, so I wouldn’t give up hope of getting scholarship money.

Does the full tuition award come in a letter from the UHC, OAFA, or somewhere else? I am trying to figure out whether DS can still hope for it or not.

Last year it came from OAFA. The first half of the letter was awarding the full tuition scholarship. The second discusses that you are nominated to compete for Chancellor’s because you received full tuition. The last part was instructions how to apply for Chancellor’s.
