I think they review in order received, not by last name. My D applied in July, received her acceptance 10/13, and her scholarship letter on 10/29. Sorry, not gonna reveal the last name letter, other than to say it’s in the first half of the alphabet.

Don’t know what the GAP program is, but, no, she didn’t get any info about it. Is it for pre-med students? She’s not pre-med.

Yes, she was invited to apply for the Chancellor’s in the scholarship letter. There’s a link with a log in and password. She is less than thrilled to have more essays to write, especially since so few are given out, but she’s going to give it a go.

Hey, I’m a freshman at Pitt who got a 2k in-state scholarship last year. I applied in early November, was accepted around New Years, and didn’t get a scholarship notification until April. So you definitely don’t need to hear about a scholarship 1-2 weeks after acceptance to have a chance.

CPU, I’ve been following your story on the Parents of 2012 thread, and I’m really happy for you! Congrats!! I bet you’re going to get lots of other good news as the season progresses.

Oh, I absolutely understand!! I think you’re going to get that kind of good news, too.

My d is applying to one of the other schools you’re applying to also, and, if you two were to end up at the same school, I think you would be good friends.

Podvigs, that’s what happened to our daughter. She was either waitlisted or rejected at all of her Ivies, and even though she vowed to never attend Pitt, that’s where she enrolled. (She was accepted at one top school, put they didn’t give any aid, as well as at a top small private, with a large scholarship, but she still felt Pitt was a better school.) Having the full tuition scholarship is fabulous. When she switched majors and attended summer session, we said, “No problem, you have the scholarship, so we can afford this.” When she asked to study abroad in Australia summer of 2012, to the tune of $10,000 plus, we said the same. Now she’s talking about taking one course in May form a state school close to our home, and even though it’s an additional $900, we don’t care. Plus it loosens up her case load so she can take that additional minor she is interested in.

So, Podvigs, I know what you mean. Two years ago when she received the good news, I thought it was a shame she wouldn’t be able to use it. But alas, the gods decided differently, and our DS has been so happy. Pitt has wonderful opportunities. I can’t say enough good things about them.

Thanks for sharing your story, FlyMeToTheMoon. I kind of feel like a bad mom for hoping she ends up there. I think she’d be super happy at Pitt, and having money freed up for the kind of things you describe is something I’ve definitely been thinking about. She has some younger siblings, so we definitely can’t only be thinking about this kid’s college. We’ll see!

I was accepted on 10/13 but still no scholarship. I’m getting kind of nervous because most people got theirs about 2 1/2 weeks after. Can people who received scholarships post their stats? Here are mine:
