Scholarship Notification

Hi,
Today upon checking my application tracker I found that I was accepted into CSE and the Honors Program. I was wondering if scholarship notifications come through the mail with the admissions package or if they can be found somewhere online.
Thanks

Same, I’m wondering this as well!

My D got the scholarship notice a few days before the acceptance. The honors program package is still in the mail a week after the status update. So they are coming in separated packages. The website says the scholarship notice should be sent around March. I guess the early notice may be only for the Gold Scholars Award and National Merit Finalist candidates.

Did the scholarship notification come in the mail or could it be found online?

The engineering school will also send out scholarship awards. For DS’ awards, they arrived several months apart via snail mail.

My D’s scholarship notice came by mail. It is not shown online.

I guess I’ll be carefully watching the mail for awhile then. Thanks.

My scholarships came in the mail on 10/10. I got the presidential ($20,000 over 4 years) and undergrad research ($1,700). I saw from the application tracker that I got accepted on 10/13, and my admissions packet came in the mail about a week later. Didn’t get anything about honors and my application tracker still says I’ve been accepted to CSE, nothing different.

I think it’s kind of weird that one person would get acceptance and honors with no scholarships (yet) and another would get acceptance and scholarships with no honors (yet).

Anyways, like MTnest said, CSE also sends out scholarships and those should come anytime between December and March (rough estimate)? Since you got accepted into honors, I’d say there is a good chance you will get some scholarship money from them.

Hi, OnMyGrind,

What stats you have to get the scholarships if you don’t mind I ask? Are you in-state or OOS? My son’s application is just complete from the tracker.

Thanks

My D just got an e-mail from UMN today about additional eligible private scholarships. It has a link to a very simple online survey form with several check boxes on the side. We thought checking the boxes will get us more information. Instead, the application is done simply by doing that. So it seems there are multiple scholarships opportunities even for oos students.

I’m am OOS myself. I wonder if that is playing a role in early scholarship notification?

@ AoPSFan1

Not a problem. I’m in state btw.

Hi, OnMyGrind,

Thanks so much for sharing your stats and congratulations to your admission and scholarships!

Does anyone know if the scholarship information is included in the admissions letter because I was accepted into CBS and wanted to know. Additionally do you know when the letters will come in?

I received my admissions letter a week after my application tracker changed and still have not received my honors college information. Scholarship notifications were not in the initial admissions package unfortunately.

No. The scholarship notice came in separated mail. My D actually received it a few days before the acceptance status update. But most may need to wait till March for scholarship notice.

Does each college handle when honour college information is sent out or is it a university wide decsion and sorry about not getting your scholarship notificatiion maybe it’ll come a little later hopefully?

D (OOS, Illniois) submitted her app on 9/22, it was complete on 10/28, she was accepted 11/8 and was notified of Gold National scholarship (diff b/w in/out of state tuition -$6,250/yr) & another scholarship of $2k per year. This makes the COA of U Minn more affordable than in-state at Illinois.

@mommylaw: Congrats! Was your D’s scholarship coming the same time as acceptance or in a different mail package?

Her scholarship notification came in a separate mailing about 1 week after the letter notifying her of her admission. It was in a colorful envelope which said “Congratulations on your Scholarships” on the outside. I guess they wanted to make sure she opened it :)
