Scholarship Notification

I got the university scholarship.

Does anyone know the typical requirements to get the 21st century scholarship?

I would be interested to know as well. I emailed admissions on friday and haven't heard back yet.

Sorry I didn't clarify what I was asking.

I wanted to see if anyone knew if there were certain requirements or if they went by a percentage system or what. I looked it up on their page and it is very vague. Hopefully someone has some behind the scenes insight as to the technicalities.

Also, for everyone wondering whether or not they got the scholarship..Remember to update your FSUID and to use that on the status page instead. Good luck

Congrats to all University Scholarship recipients!

If you think you may qualify for an academic scholarship and haven't seen evidence yet on your status page, call FSU and speak to an admissions officer. They are very cordial and will tell you if you are in the "scholarship range". That way you will know if you have a shot at the 21st Century scholarships.

Good luck! I hope we see more of the CC group with merit $$!

where do you check for scholarships? do you login to the blackboard or into the admissions status page?

nycollegedad- the 'Application Status' page, under 'Admissions Scholarship'.

Make sure you updated your FSUID nycollegedad

These scholarships are similar to the ones at USF, which posts their cutoffs at Freshman Scholarships - USF Undergraduate Admissions

FSU used to post theirs, but doesn't anymore. It would be fairly easy to bracket the SAT/ACT cutoffs if people posted their stats but since they use the recalculated GPA that's a bit trickier.

Anyway, congratulations to all the scholarship earners!

So is the University Scholarship more like the USF Director's Award or the USF Scholars?

For scholarship info check out this webpage:

This page lists scholarships by name with descriptions of each. Scholarships are based on everything from academic merit, service, talent, athletics, ROTC, and financial need.

If there is a scholarship you think you may qualify for, call admissions and/or financial aid and express your interest.

As per the admissions office, this is what i was told for the 21st century scholarship:

AROUND a 1300 and AROUND a 3.8 FSU GPA are the general requirements.

Has anyone been awarded the 21st century scholarship yet?

Are you sure? That sounds a little high...I thought those were the general requirements for the University Scholarship...

I specifically asked about the 21st century and she told me that I was in the range, which was around a 1300 and a 3.7-3.8 GPA FSU

It must have gotten a bit more difficult to obtain these scholarships this year since the quality of applicants is getting better and better.

Alright, I have already clicked to accept the offer for the University Scholarship and they sent the follow-up e-mail. However, even though it's a few days later, the offer status is still "Response not yet received..." Anyone else in the same boat?

Um...I have a 3.7 FSU gpa as told to me by an FSU admissions officer and a 1380 SAT (770cr,610m) so I guess they're flexible

which scholarship did you receive?

vincanity1: I believe FSU and UF weight the GPA the same. Do you think a 3.7 GPA will be enough for UF admission? I thought they were pretty much only taking 4.0 or better. Maybe your excellent SAT score will make up for it.

FSU obviously loves your high test score as evidenced by their university scholarship offer, but I don't think 3.7 GPA is quite enough for automatic honors admission which requires a 3.9 GPA. You can try admission by petition or lateral admission if you really want to be in honors.

nrose6 sorry, slipped my mind. I got the University Scholarship

cybermom I appreciate the concern but there are a couple things bringing up my confidence that I'd rather go into in private. As far as honors goes, I know I probably won't be invited outright but I don't really mind because I realize that it's a 2 year program and I would be transferring out of for UF anyways. Besides, there's no point congesting a program for people that have worked to be in that position for years. Also, I'm not really sure how that would affect my transfer process if it came to that. This situation would be so much less complicated if UF didn't get rid of ED...
