Scholarship Notification

do you think ill get ANYTHING from FSU with a 3.8 GPA (as per FSU) and a 1270? :-(

This is not looking good. Has ANYONE been offered 21st century scholarships? Perhaps they have not posted those yet. I wish they look at extracurriculars for this things…that would help me tremendously.

Are you a minority?

nrose6 - we don’t know what around 1300 means, is 1270 enough? Sounds like your 3.8 GPA is right in there. If you are a Florida resident you at least will have the FAS 100% Bright Futures as long as you meet the community service hours requirement. Believe it or not, my son’s roommate last year would have qualified for the 100% award but did not complete the 75 hours of service. I have also heard of kids who forgot to sign up online starting in December of their senior year and missed out too.

nope, not a minority…wish i was at this point!

i have over 250 service hours and have lead many clubs, but I don’t think that means anything for the scholarships.

I have 100% BF but I was hoping for something to ease the 2315 per semester dorm…I am starting to worry about how my family and I are going to be able to afford this… :-(

There may be other scholarships available…plus financial aid or loans. Have you filled out the FAFSA? (You’ll do that in January, most likely).

Just relax nrose6, there are plenty of ways to help pay off what’s left. Don’t take for granted that FSU is one of the best value colleges in the country, despite its lack of recognition for it.

I also just applied for bright futures  thanks cybermom, you reminded me the app was up already

thus far I have filled out about 15 things on fastwebs, and the Florida App for aide, including bright futures. I dont think the FAFSA is up until January?

vicanity - glad to help with my gentle nagging reminders.

nrose6 - if you really have financial constraints, you can check out the Southern Scholarship Foundation [Southern Scholarship Foundation](http://www.southernscholarship.org/)
They provide rent-free housing for students with financial need.

There are also jobs available both on and off campus to help subsidize your living expenses.

Are you first generation to attend college? There are scholarships for kids in that situation too.

not first generation…

…just the first child out of three! :-o

Working at the university will help substantially…I hope I am able to get some sort of job.

I also still have hope that the 21st Century scholarships have not been uploaded to the system yet since nobody has reported one.

I can only hope the best!

cybermom = gentle nagging? :D

(I’m dying to hear from cyberdad or cyberson…lol)

Seriously, cybermom keeps the FSU board running! Think of it as minor course corrections. :)

Both cyberdad and my two cybersons would agree that I am an expert at gentle nagging.

Only the best excel at the fine at of gentle nagging - congratulations!

The skill involves a fine sense of timing and a spoonful or two of guilt. Poor timing or too much or too little guilt and it is ineffective. Generally women are better at it than men…I suspect due to the better developed corpus callosum present in females. :D

yeah, you know us split brain men :)

We’re not split-brained; we’re dain bramaged.

(Shhh - We just let the women think we’re clueless so they can “save” us)

After accepting the scholarship, has anybody’s status changed on the admissions page? I received the letter in the mail today but my offer status is still ‘response not yet received.’

Yau,

I accepted the scholarship and was still rather worried when the status would not change; I had received the verification e-mail, so I was obviously really confused. It took about a week for the status to finally update online.

Hope this helps!

I was awarded the 21st Century scholarship. My stats are:
4.0 fsu weighted gpa, and a 1290 SAT

I just called admissions and asked about the University scholarship stats. She said the cutoff was a 1300. But she also said that those scores may increase based on new applicant scores.

I will be retaking the SAT, and she said to call back once I get the new scores and they will consider me for the University Scholarship.

:)

MCOOPER: GREAT NEWS for you! CONGRATULATIONS!

I wonder if some of the others waiting heard anything yet.

Thank you! I feel great
Do you know how many of the freshman are awarded scholarships?
