It is my biggest hesitation for him to commit to the school. If I am understanding tuition rates correctly it also raises tuition about 6k a year for those OOS coming in with credits. He planned on taking more than 12 but it may have included some lower credit courses like band (providing he gets into it.) This may raise the amount of credits to 16 or 17 and then I see there is a over credit charge too. I am unsure if this charge includes AP they come in with. This is the only school he has been accepted to that requires this.
I think I read somewhere that AP/dual enrollment earned during Hs are were excluded from excess fee charges since D will be bringing in both as well, but definitely check. The charge per credit makes things seem complicated as well IMO and I wonder why they donât just have a flat fee for tuition the other schools she applied to.
Check out registrar.UCf.edu and there is a section that mentions AP/IB and DE credits.
Thank you!
The required credits is definitely a scary issue if you read many threads on other sites about kids needing to drop courses at UCF.
Has anyone received their financial information yet from UCF?
Yes. We received it several weeks ago. You can look in the UCF portal under financial aid. You actually have to click on the â2022â to open the financial aid breakdown. Once you do that, everything should be listed there.
Make sure your childâs SS# is not all Xâs.
Apparently they have no record of our fasfa. Daughter even sent them a screen shot of it showing their school is listed.
Again did you check her SS#? Check under demographics. Someone mentioned in in the financial aid presentation last week. If the SS# is xâs the can not access the FAFSA.
Wow just checked and it is xâs. Obviously she didnât enter it that way. At what point were they gonna reach out and say they needed it? Communication has been awful. She even reached out to financial aid in November when she was accepted. No mention of it then either.
I have no idea. We received S21âs offer without the loans and were surprised. We had seen that the SS# was xâd out and assumed it was just hidden. At the financial aid presentation last week they told us about it. He sent it to them and it was fixed within the week. Unfortunately we did not qualify for anything but the loans. We do plan on taking one of those out though.
It is not just UCF. We have found that many schools wanted information this year that was not communicated. Lots of portals asking for information that was already provided and new checklists. This is not our first in college and it seems like many are having families jump through hoops to get FA offers.
Mine applied to 15 schools. Ucf has been the worst sadly. Itâs such a beautiful school but they seem overwhelmed.
Did you check all of the other FA portals? We have had at least 7 request information after all initial requested information sent. A few did not contact at all. If we did not check on our own we would not know.
Unfortunately, they have not been the worst for us. One school that he was accepted to in Dec, acceptance letter promised merit amount Mid FebâŠwe are still waiting.
We have the financial packet from every other school except Clemson which is due out âmid Marchâ. The thing is ucf never once reached out. Should they know this is an issue then shouldnât they have reached out to fix it? Like how would we know to dig and look in that spot for âxâsâ. Just really frustrated as she was accepted back in November and we had the fasfa done on October 1.
Update⊠My daughter reached out to financial aidâŠno response. I reached out to financial aid 6 days agoâŠno response. I then tried calling them on Wednesday and was on hold for over 45 minutes and I never got to speak to anyone. I then emailed admissions Thursday, no response yet from them. I understand its a big school, but their lack of responding during this time is actually concerning. I posted this in another group and received many private messages of horror stories with other families who have dealt with them for the past year once their kids were enrolled. Point was, it should be seen as a sign to how they deal with things.
Mine has now crossed UCF off the list. Sad as it is a gorgeous school. But its way to much money and way too far from where we live to have faith that it will improve once she commits.
Good luck to all of you!!
Well, weâre sorry to lose you.
I would hope you will write a letter to the president of UCF and let him know your daughterâs qualifications and the response you got from Financial Aid. The Financial Aid office is literally the weak link in the UCF administration.
Most other offices, like Undergraduate Admissions and Student Accounts, are very responsive. But Financial Aid is most definitely NOT helpful. The sad thing is that admissions and student accounts have to interact with FA a lot, but they have no control over them, and no ability to help with them. Even those offices canât get cooperation from FA.
Good luck on wherever she goes, but I really hope youâll let President Cartwright know.
Wow that is sad to hear that this is a known thing about their financial aid office. That should be an office that is one of the most helpful!
Yes I will send a letter to the president. Still no response to any of my emails
