I received the Classic Scholarship. I have only seen this through the mystatus page; I haven’t received any mail that has notified me of the scholarship, so am not sure when it was awarded to me.
Daughter just received Classic Scholarship. The wording is a little strange, is the value exactly one half of difference between in-state and out of state? Or some other number?
Non-Georgia residents may be offered annual, fully-renewable scholarships, providing a waiver of tuition and fees equal to half the differential between in-state and out-of-state costs. This opportunity currently provides a minimum value to each student of $9,105 per year.
To be considered in full, complete and submit the Application for Admission as a First-Year Student by December 15. Students must score a minimum of 1950 on the SAT or an ACT Composite of 29 to be eligible for consideration. Awards will be made to out-of-state residents presenting strong academic credentials.
Still anxiously waiting any word on the Classic Scholars (and any others for OOS students)…I was hoping to know the financial commitment before I flew my daughter out for the accepted students’ tour. This is the only way I can see sending my OOS daughter to UGA. Yet, the offers all seem to be dribbling in here and there. Do they not send them all out at once? If so, is it because they wait to see who among the recipients is going to accept them, and thereby, as the money is accepted allow them to either extend more offers or stop once the school has “spent” its allotment of scholarship money. I’m a bit confused …I was under the assumption that you received it if you made the cut off on ACT and have strong academic credentials. What is it that they also look for? Congrats to all the hardworking, deserving students on this thread who have received offers! Such an accomplishment!
