scholarship problem

hey guys....ok, now if u received enough scholarships to cover ur self-help portion of the financial packet and have more money left over, do they then proceed to cut ur grants, or do they cut the expected family contributions, summer savings, and/or student assets?

like can u guys list what goes down first: (i'll start the list)
1) self-help component of financial packet
2)
3)
4)
5)

thx guys!!!!!!!

1)self-help
2)grants
some schools even specify that $500 goes to self-help, the remaining 50% goes to self help and the other 50% goes to lowering grants (forgot what school..i think it's Rice). It all depends on the school.

you MUST pay EFC, student assets, and summer savings

Lunknot is correct. . . . .

Self Help

Grants

Family Contribution

It's not as bad as the majority of schools.

U Rochester takes half of all scholarship money beyond $1000 out of grants. Therefore, I'm actually saving money by going to Cornell even though they are giving me $1000 less grants per year. . . .funny how life works.

grants as in: any grant:
whether is be pell, tap or ed grant? or they cant touch the first 2?

they can't touch pell grant or seog, they normally put surplus scholarship money into reducing the institutional grants they give you
