Okay so I know qualify for the national buckeye and trustee (29 act and top 10% of my class). But do you think it’s likely I’ll get it. I’m super nervous that they’ll run out of money
I’m in literally the same boat as you. Hopefully we will receive it
I thought that there was an almost guaranteed chance of getting it if you meet the requirements but I met the requirements for provost, which came out today, and did not receive it. Not sure if they are still sending provost out, but I’m hoping I at least get trustees. I have a 31 ACT and I am just barely in the top 10% of my class btw.
Does anyone know if OSU allocates scholarship money across various majors, or if they base it on grades and scores only.
@jaycbee there are college-specific scholarships you can apply for and there are just the general merit ones OSU gives you. For example, engineering has special scholarships such as the women in engineering scholarships.
I am a parent of an accepted 2021 OSU student and we are anxiously awaiting a National Buckeye/Trustee Scholarship. My daughter said that today she noticed on a FB page that some students received this combo in the mail. Today was not our lucky day. Have any of you heard back yet? (we live in NJ)
@lovethearts1 We are in Wisconsin and my son is still waiting as well. I know with no mail yesterday things could be delayed. Did she say what FB page she was on?
@ drjdillon Thanks for replying. This makes me feel better. I bet you are right. My daughter is on a FB page for accepted students to OSU. I don’t know the exact page, but I asked her if any of the kids who received this combo are from NJ. She said she didn’t know. I bet it will just take longer for some students to get the letters just based on the distance from Ohio and the mail system. Fingers crossed that today is the day.
@lovethearts1 Oh I sure hope so! He was accepted back in November so the wait for scholarships has seemed forever. We paid the acceptance fee right away, but his attendance really does hinge on scholarships.
@drjdillon - Wow, that was brave of you to pay the acceptance fee without knowing about the scholarships. My daughter didn’t find out until January, but I did think we would have heard by now. The fact of the matter is that my daughter does have some other very good options and is awaiting word from 4 more schools. However, we are planning to tour OSU (for the first time), in early March & I have a feeling that we will love it.
@lovethearts1 We figured it was a relatively small price to pay since they said they would send out housing info starting with the people who paid their acceptance fee first. But then he got the Scholars letter, so he may end up in a certain dorm for that anyway. We are in Wisconsin and he has been admitted to the University of Wisconsin as well. Obviously that would be in state, so much less expensive, but his first choice is OSU. The merit scholarships would certainly make that a much easier decision! But either way, he applied to only two schools and got into both – both great schools. So I guess he can’t go wrong!
@lovethearts1 I asked my daughter same thing, if she noticed many from NJ attending OSU. She didn’t know. I think you will love OSU when you visit. Very impressive for such a big school to give a smaller campus feel. I like that the campus is basically walkable. We are from Central Jersey, shore area. My daughter hasn’t rejected other school offers yet, but we need to do so. Good luck to everyone and hope you all receive great news!
@ballet13 I am so excited to visit the campus! The only school that my daughter was accepted at and refuses to visit is Rutgers. I know it is a good option; but it is way too close. We had her apply as her safety school. The funny thing is hat it is the one school that didn’t offer any cash other than unsubsidized loans. We don’t live too far from the Jersey Shore, but are considered more north Jersey. What is your daughter planning on majoring in?
@drjdillon Congrats on your son being admitted to Wisconsin and Ohio State. Why would he consider attending Ohio State over Wisconsin? I ask as Wisconsin is in state for him and they are very comparable in academics, athletics, size, etc. What is his major?
@lab99 That is a great question! Ha! He is going into Business. He is sort of an adventure kid and Wisconsin just sort of feels like home to him I guess. So he wants to go a little farther away and spread his wings. I guess I can’t blame him for that!
