Scholarship Questions

We live in GA and my daughter is attending a community college and she applied and was awarded a scholarship that pays $500 a semester. We live in GA and she gets the Hope Grant that pays 90% of the tuition, she also gets Pell and this scholarship. this scholarship pays toward tuition, books and housing which she doesn't need since it is a community college. The college is saying that she will not get the scholarship since she has an overage with Pell. Her overage after books comes to only around $250.

I am a single mom, her dad passed away when she was 15...I have no other source for assistance and I was thinking the scholarship would be applied to the remainder of the tuition and books and then Pell would be applied. The crazy thing about all of this is this particular scholarship is for students with a household income less than $50,000. So they know I am not loaded with money.

I spoke with a student at another college yesterday she says she gets Hope, Pell and this scholarship and gets the overage that is left.

Has anyone else had to deal with this?

Thanks
