<p>I got one of these for a sum of about $10,000. Now I am oos so this makes UCLA kind of affordible for me. However I just realized this is only a one time award! O teh website it says this award is given to people who have high demonstrated need and high academic acheivement. It also goes on to say that in subsequent years student are most likely to receive some help based on their need through university Grants. I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten this Scholarship Recognition Award and if after the first year you got financial help aswell and if so was it less or more than the sum of the scholarship recognition award. <p>i'm a newly-admitted freshman, in-state, and received the scholarship recognition award as well, around $5,000. since this award is soley need based, i think that if your second year you still qualify for financial aid, they will give you as much money as you need. the name scholarship recognition just changes to university grants. they call it that for freshman because they apparently recognize and congratulate them for being admitted. if you still need the money later on they will give it to you, however much it is. but this might be different for OOS.</p>

I have financial aid as well, and $6000 worth of recognition scholarship. Still, I have to pay a lot more money that I plan to pay with loans. I am hoping the school will help me further about it.</p>
