I just got notification in the mail that I was chosen for 2 scholarships, a $6500/year one and a $5000/year one. Do I have to choose just one? Or do I get both, and is that enough to pay for tuition, books, room/board, and food?

Congrats! I got a letter today as well! Gold Scholar Award (7500/year) and Study Abroad Scholarship (1000 one year).

If your letter didn't say anything about only being able to accept one of them, you should be able accept both.

Congrats to both of you guys!! I'm just wondering when were you accepted and what college are you in? I'm really hoping for some combo of 7K, but I'm not sure I'll get it.

I don't remember the exact date, but I was accepted to CLA in early-mid November.

I got into the Institute of Technology. I'm pretty sure it was also sometime early in November.

Could you guys please list your stats? I'm curious whether I even have a chance of getting a scholarship from the U or not.

Danmam,

$11,500/year is not enough to pay for tuition and R&B. By the time the new tuition rates come out it will probably cover tuition and maybe a few books if you are in-state. Right now tuition and R&B for in-state is around $17,000 year.

i agree with above poster

I got the Gold National, which covers the difference between OOS and In-State tuition.... about $4000 per year.

GPA- 4.4
SAT- 1820- 630R, 580M, 610W, 11 Essay.
Lots of good EC's.

I was accepted at the U of M's Institute of Technology as an honors student. I received 3 (or 4?) scholarships: Presidential Scholarship ($5000/yr), President's Distinguished Student Scholarship ($2000/yr), Gold Scholar Award ($7500/yr) and then I have the option of receiving an undergraduate research scholarship.
